DVD
Professionally shot live footage of the bands legendary performance at the Reading Festival!
Whoever was responsible for putting Smells Like Teen Spirit on heavy MTV rotation in 1992, was probably unaware that this would be the starting gun for a new era of alternative rock. It is anybody's guess what made him or her bet on this weird horse that seemed far out of the usual line of mainstream music video fare, but it earned MTV the jackpot. Nevertheless, Seattle-based Nirvana hit the raw nerve of the Zeitgeist to become the (stage-managed) mouthpiece of their generation. Whether intended or not is open to debate, but one thing seems certain: guitarist and singer/songwriter Kurt Cobain probably didn't set out to become a role model for millions of teenagers in the first place. Said that, fiercely selfconfident Cobain ("I always knew I'd do something special") had been a determined and relentless fighter for a life of fame, glory, and rock 'n' roll since his beginnings as a musician.

This is by far the best gig Nirvana ever did, however I was thoroughly disappointed when I received the DVD. The song title is permanently displayed throughout all the footage (almost in the middle of the screen) which is incredibly annoying and the footage is pretty poor quality too. I'm a massive Nirvana fan, but was so disappointed with the quality of the DVD that I asked for a refund. Plus the opening song 'Breed' isn't included on the DVD. It's a huge shame that this legendary Nirvana gig was produced so cheaply on DVD, what an insult to the band! Avoid.

a great nirvana performance, footage quality not brilliant and i found the film company logo and song title being permanantly displayed on screen annoying but at 24 tracks long and for £6.99 its a pretty decent purchase

As much as i love nirvana. totally huge fan the dvd is bad. the quality is like watching an old video thats been watched over and over. and every title of the song appears in bold writing at the bottom of the screen. which does your head in after a while. shame as one of their legendary performances
