Took my daughter and her friend to watch this at the cinema, i was the chaperone but i ended up enjoying this film so much (sat away from the girls on my own, laughing so much i looked strange) that i swore i would buy it on dvd when available. Initially i thought it was going to be just a typical teen chick flick, but omg was it funny. Any mother of a daughter must watch this film, it was just soooo true!!! Plus it brought back lots of memories from my childhood. You just have to buy it, you won't be disappointed. Very funny, lol movie.....
this film, although having the same storyline as most teenage romcom's, girl wants boy, girl meets hot boy, boy likes girl, boy and girl fight, happily ever after, is probably one of the best films i have seen in ages. it had the whole audience in sitches at regular intervals and unlike most films the funny bits were throughout instead of just what was put into the trailer. the main actress, georgia groome was talented and was able to hold the audience well. the main actor, aaron johnson, aswell as being obscenely good looking, was a very captivating actor with a lush accent. this film didnt command you to think to much and was the perfect film to watch to make you feel good. like all good films should it made me go away thinking about it and the message it tried to relay. although one bad point would be the fact that the love problems and the happily ever after ending does not happen like that in real life and leaves you feeling bad that you dont have it :)
The film is cute and would probably be enjoyed by younger teens but even as a 16 year old i found it OTT and not very funny, unlike the book which i absolutely loved. The film is based on the books, but i would say very loosely based... and was a bad decision to change it. I felt it was a bit of a let down but will watch it again.
...Atleast it was less than a cinema ticket.
I absolutely adore the original books by Louise Rennison, they are the funniest books I have ever read. I watched this film even though I knew it could never live up to my expectations and I was so right. Barely any of it was accurate or true to the original story and the funniest parts in the books were completely ignored, particularly anything involving Dave the Laugh.
This film was sanitised so much that it lost any of the books' randomness, crudeness and quirkiness that I really related to and that made it a really accurate portrayal of life as a teenager, being one myself. I thought the acting was really wooden and just generally quite rubbish as well.
If you genuinely love and relate to the books, I would advise you not to watch this. However if you're a fan of anything high school musical/hannah montana related, go for it, i'm sure you'll love it :|
i didnt see this at the pics but i brought it on dvd as soon as it came out. one of the best dvds ive seen in ages. im 19 and i can relate 2 the film 100% the cast is brill esp aaron :) its a gr8 british film. id recommend it 2 anyone!!!!!
