Bet You Never Thought You'd See The Day...........

When a Pistols gig could be described as quite a civilised affair??

That's what the generation of punk fans that originally made the Pistols so (in)famous must be thinking. Ok, the audience are clearly having a pretty wild time, the band played well and gave the fans all the songs they wanted to hear, so where's the problem? Well, the Pistols as they are now are too polished and just sound not unlike a normal gigging rock band. There are probably reasons for this, like the fact that all of the Pistols have been jobbing musicians ever since the bands initial demise and have developed into far better players than they ever were at the height of their fame. It could also be the fact that original and current bassist Glen Matlock (unlike Sid Vicious) can not only play bass, but play it very well indeed. But they give the impression, as so many bands of their age group do, of middle aged men just going through the motions.

A good gig, well filmed by Julien Temple but you can help thinking that the Pistols have turned into the very thing they hated in their younger days.........

I was also at the concert and to be honest it was pretty average . However , Julien Temple gives us yet another fab documentary on the Pistols and how it all began . If you liked it then I'd also recommend The Filth and The Fury which also has loads of old footage .

A great concert and a great doccumentary, almost three hours in total, some great moments like where Steve Jones & Paul Cook show the alley where they used to get dropped off by taxis so they could do a runner. Who would ever do that?
John Lydon is at his best in a London tour bus giving his insights in to Londons architecture and his sentiments on modern life in the city.
Blow that up, blow this up etc.
Lots of strong language though so dont let the kids watch unless you want them exposed to the the sort of talk they hear every day in the School playground.
Only sad bit for me was seeing all those old punks at the concert, it was almost like an ABBA reunion.
The third film about the Sex Pistols by Julien Temple is well worthwhile.
