The CIAs hunt is on for the mastermind of a wave of terrorist attacks. Roger Ferris is the agencys man on the ground, moving from place to place, scrambling to stay ahead of ever-shifting events. An eye in the sky, a satellite link watches Ferris. At the other end of that real-time link is the CIAs Ed Hoffman, strategizing events from thousands of miles away. And as Ferris nears the target, he discovers trust can be just as dangerous as it is necessary for survival.

Leonardo DiCaprio (as Ferris) and Russell Crowe (as Hoffman) star in Body of Lies, adapted by William Monahan (The Departed) from the David Ignatius novel. Ridley Scott (American Gangster, Black Hawk Down) directs this impactful tale, orchestrating exciting action sequences and plunging viewers into a bold spy thriller for our time.

Ridley Scott hasn't lost his touch keeping the gritty feel he brought us in Black Hawk Down and he's not afraid to gloss over anything. Body of Lies is a film about trust and three men's different views on how to catch a terrorist. It's not another post 9/11 movie, thank goodness, as instead it is more of a spy thriller with a side line to America's relationship to the Middle East.

Body of Lies is exactly what a political action thriller without all the in your face preaching should be. Top-notch.

Ridley Scott's latest outing takes us into the heart of the Middle East as we follow CIA field agent Roger Ferris during his missions to prevent terrorism. Slightly smarter than the usual spy thrillers, Body Of Lies avoids the "American hero" cliches and steers clear of Hollywood nuances, which makes the film much more thrilling. Both of the leads are great, and Mark Strong as the Jordanian Head of Intelligence is fantastic and believable. Visually the film is fantastic, flitting between different locations, Iraq, Jordan, Netherlands, UK and USA to name a few, and the spy-cam aerial shots are very effective, demonstrating how the CIA can be watching anything at any moment.
I would have no qualms recommending this as a thinking-man's 'The Kingdom', and when compared with other Middle Eastern CIA thriller, 'Syriana', I would say 'Body Of Lies' is more approachable and enjoyable, even if slightly lacking in depth of plot and character.

Ridley Scott Directs another outstanding action thriller. Di Caprio and Crowe are both on top form in a film that tries to tackle to hot potato subject of home grown terrorism. DiCaprio is the CIA man deep in the field desperatly trying to hunt down the mastermind resposible for a wave of Terrorist bombings. While Crow is desk man giving DiCaprio the orders and watches the events unfold from thousands of miles away with images from his eyes in the sky. Don't expect the film to be full of blistering action, or have an all action thrird quarter as with the similar themed The Kingdom, what action there is , is very well staged and impressive, but do expect a gripping, intelligent spy thriller that plunges the viewer into a eye opening and scary vision of todays world events, that once again is proof that Director Scott is one of the most versatile directors working today.
The only real disappointment comes from a seriouse lack of extra features, as surly a film about such a hot subject matter deserves a double disc of features.
Excellent film, poor bonus features.

Enjoyed this Movie, Slickly made. Well acted and some great set pieces.
Russell Crowe was ok,he pretty much phoned in his performance (Literally!!). Di Caprio was as good as usual.
But it was Mark String's performance as Hani Salaam that was the best of the lot, he was just Ice Cool.
P.S - I wonder if ALL they spying technology is real, and being used. Pretty scary if it is!
