Apart from one novel death early on, this is no better than Saw IV. Like the previous effort, flashbacks of Jigsaw are supposed to flesh out the characters - but really add nothing, apart from minutes to the run time. The only novelty here is that Tobin Bell is given more of a chance to act, but who watches these films for acting?

If you like the other saws you want be disappointed

I love the saw film's i have 1 -4 on dvd, what a shame saw 5 is, it is basiclly a recap of saws 1 - 4 but a new game involved to me they made this to bridge a gap and make saw 6 which i will be watching just hope they do not drag it out and get on with it. I will be buying on dvd but only when it is discounted. There are good bit s in the film just seemed to be a big waste of time, wont beleive how it ends if no one guesses this one you should not watch the films.. A easy ending to guess and a let down.. Go back to your roots guys stop trying to make money and start making good films again. 3 Stars for some quality death scenes and lots of blood helps.... Not the best saw i have seen a basic money maker and a bridge to saw 6.

Why do they have to keep bringing these things out?!?! I loved the first 3 but why didn't they just leave it there? The films are really dipping in quality because they insist on making 1 every year to release it around Halloween. This includes storyboards, casting, writing the script, filming and marketing. A really good film takes more than 1 year to do that. The films pretty poor I thought. There can be no Saw without Jigsaw and not as much gore as the others which, let's face it, is the only reason anybody watches these. I just hope they stop hear so it doesn't get REALLY embarassing.

 "..keep getting better.."

Saw films are no way yet getting tired, saw 5 is a great film, its full of nasty bloody traps and violence, the story is great, it sums up alot of things from the last 4 films, you must see them all to really understand it. Saw 5 is a bridge between 4 and 6, cant wait to see what happens next, if you love twists these films have lots of them.
