Poor Jim Carrey hes been suffering immensely in recent years as the last decent film i saw him in was bruce almighty in 2003. Since then hes suffered the unfunny boring tindings of fun with dick and jane, the tedious thriller 23 and even a pointless, mindnumbing kids film in the form of lemony snickets. And finally Jim Carrey has returned to form after 5 years of hurt.

So the plot is pretty simple, carrey has a boring life where he says no to everything. After a seminar he takes on the challenge to say yes for an entire year. The comedy itself revolves around carreys actions and the occasional wacky voice that has been used many times. Particularly during the red bull incident in this film. Its one of those parts he was born to play, and Zooey Deschannel provides a good supporting performance as Jim Carrey's girlfriend.

Sadly though this film does drift into the abyss of a chick flick (simliar to bruce almighty) where carrey loses his girlfriend followed by the montage of him being depressed with the sad music playing through. Happily you will only have to endure this for 15 minutes or so. Overall its funny, heart warming, and enjoyable. If You like Jim Carrey you'll love this. Its been done before but then again what hasnt, best comedy of the year by far.

Should you buy this film? It depends...

I'm a fan of Jim Carrey - he's a diverse actor despite what many may think. Nonetheless, he has been in his fair share of stinkers, but also some corkers, too.

Yes Man struggles to rise above its mediocre script. Dabbling with slapstick, this character study doesn't quite know what kind of comedy it wants to be, so it ticks all of its sub-genres just to be safe.

As a result, you have a film that entertains and irritates in equal measure. It's cute at times, funny as well, and there's a decent lesson to be learned from it all. Unfortunately, it can also be very lecturing - unintentionally so - while being a tad too cliched and downright cheesy.

Is it Carrey at his best? NO.

Would I recommend this film when the price drops a little? YES.

I absolutely love this film! I very rarely laugh out loud at films and I kept bursting out into fits of giggles in the cinema.

However, if you've not read the book you won't appreciate this film!! It's average as a film on it's own but if you love the book you'll love this as you'll know the full story :)
