If i had to describe this film in one word, it would be fantastic!
Although the standard of voice acting of Penny (Miley Cyrus) is average, the other character's voices i.e. Mittens (Susie Essman) and Bolt (John Travolta) give a very good level of emotion, really drawing in the viewer and creating convincing, lovable charcaters. My personal favourite though was Rhino the Hamster, his total madness was hilarious!
The standard of animation in Bolt is, as always with Disney films, incredibly high. There is an interesting stylisation of the characters as they have large heads in comparison with their bodies, particularly with the lead characters. This gives the film a fairly cartoony feel although the detail in the animation is still outstanding, from the facial and movement animation right down to the fur on their bodies.
Most importantly, however, is the story. Although it is a somewhat predictable tail (excuse the pun) of "always help a friend in need", the idea of what Bolt believes slowly falling apart and his meeting new friends is a rollercoaster of emotions and is extremely compelling, if not slightly reminiscent of Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story.
Overall, despite a slightly predictable story, This is definitely a 5* film. Not better then such Pixar offerings as Wall-e and Monsters Inc., but easily on a par. Very enjoyable for both parents and children alike, this film is a must-see and one i will definitely have to own.
