I love this series, i really do. While it doesn't offer belly laughs on a regular basis, it's warm, sweet, charming and innocent. The older i get, the more i appreciate the theme of the older generation revelling in the sheer joy of life. With the (now sadly dwindling) cast giving their all to the show, each new series of last of the summer wine really does feeling like a visit to old friends - friends who happen to live amidst some of the most beautiful scenery in england.

It's unfortunate that the dvd release is being cut for 'contractual reasons' , but i presume that the bbc has no choice in the matter and that given the choice between cuts and no release at all, i'll take the former.

As per usual - an absolute pleasure! Thoroughly enjoy watching all the shows - just need to know when Series 15 and 16 will be released by the BBC?? BUT ............... Pleased to see however, that another person has noticed the small print relating to series being 'cut to pieces' - could anyone at the BBC explain this trend? It would be such a pity should we be missing out on the 'real thing' seeing as some of the shows have not been included in previous series. Anyone have any idea why the pilot episode was not included in Series 1. Again - such a pity BBC.

I am a life long devotee of last of the summer wine but as i have been buying these box sets of the show i have only recently noticed on the backs of the dvd boxes in very small print ," for contractual reasons certain edits have been made" i e the episodes have been hacked to bits and have had scenes cut out , i bought them in good faith believing i was getting all the episodes of last of the summer wine but clearly we are not
