Fido is an excellent horror comedy, very funny and very original, and the best performance ever from billy connely who you will hardly recognise. Fido has a great fresh story where we are able to have zombies in our homes doing jobs for us and keep them as pets due to a collar round their neck stopping them from eating us, but then something goes wrong and the zombie run free....... if you love shaun of the dead then you will love this, its just as good! well worth putting in your dvd collection.
i dont know what the other reviewer is on about saying if u love shaun of the dead you will love this. they cannot be compared at all only thing in commen is zombies.
anyway this film seems the first and only of its kind that i have seen and it was very enjoyable. dont expect a dawn of the dead with this but why would you when the films called fido.
Its very enjoyable and if it wasnt for the gore and violence i'd say its a good family film.
After the never ending resurrection of the Zombie movies, this film came as a great suprise. The film is set in a 1950's world, where people are learning to live with the Zombie outbreak and the aftermath of the Zombie war, by controling the undead via a neck band, that stops the living dead from being rabid cannibals, to placid slaves of the humans. The film is a biting satire, that is very clever and very funny. The real star is Fido, played to perfection by a shaven Billy Connelly. The film feels like a Tim Burton film, crossed with the Tv show Pushing Daisies. If you need faith putting back into the Zombie movies, after the disappointing Dairy's Of The Dead and the terrible 2007 remake of Day Of The Dead, then give this a go. It may not be blood splattered, but it is very funny and is bound to go down as a cult classic.
I'm not sure why this film never got more publicity, as it's a very amusing comedy! Set in 1950's suburbia America, everything looks perfect and very picturesque - with the exception of the domesticated zombies helping out around the house.
The humour is at times quite dark which is expected (e.g. school children singing 'In the brain and not the chest. Head shots are the very best.'). However the tone of the film is never too dark, as it seamlessly blends in the tale of a boy and his zombie, a dysfunctional family, and love and affection between humans and zombies.
Definitively worth a watch, but those after masses of gore and severed limbs will be disappointed. Those who love Tim Burton films however will no doubt appreciate the mix of humour and interesting character relationships!
Save your money this is daft and rubbish. Billy connolly is a genius at standup comedy but this is poor everyone rates this high.( rent before you buy)
