The Tattooist

Don't get me wrong. Excellent film, well written and acted. Excellent close ups of tattooing, and some fab art in there.
But it was not a scary film, not a horror, I've seen much scarier films, that were only 15 rated.
But overall worth a watch, but probably not worth the £15 high street stores are selling it at!!!!!

Okay, it won't win any awards for originality, the vengeful spirit thing has been done a hundred times before, but it is a interesting and engaging take on the subject matter of Samoan tattooing and lore.

While it perhaps isn't as gory as the 18 certificate implies, the method of death is inventive, and looks fantastic on the screen.

Also looking fantastic are the many many tattoos that adorn the bodies of almost the entire cast. From that perspective the film is beautiful. And Jason Behr does a good job of looking sexy with a body covered in ink.

The love backstory is effective, and the story of how the spirit became vengful is also good, even if the spirit himself his unfortuantely CGI.

I would recommend giving this film a go, its perfect Friday night fare for fans of the The Grudge, One Missed Call, et al.

i think this is a well done little horror good story and a couple of jumps but a well crafted horror movie if you like films like stir of echos this could be the film for you

Although the idea for a film was good there was quite a lot lacking. for a start the film could have been longer with more depth to the characters. The male lead only seemed to have one expression throughout the film. I know it was a film on a budget but did expect more. The extras a quite good though.

This is a prime example of a movie that could have been great but with a mediocre script, was a let down. The premise of this movie is about a tattoist played by Jason Behr, who steals an ancient samoan tattoing tool and accidently cuts himself. Upon cutting himself he becomes a tool through which an angry samoan spirit exacts his revenge,whenever Jason tattoos someones. Unfortunately the movie never really lives up to it's potential and by the end of it when the credits roll your left with an empty feeling of "Is That It?"................
