The Mummy (Dir. Stephen Sommers) (1999): Deep in the Egyptian desert, a handful of people searching for a long-lost treasure have just unearthed a 3,000 year old legacy of terror. Combining the thrills of a rousing adventure with the suspense of Universal's legendary 1932 horror classic, The Mummy, starring Brendan Fraser, is a true nonstop action epic, filled with dazzling visual effects, top-notch talent and superb storytelling.

The Mummy Returns (Dir. Stephen Sommers) (2001): Set in 1933, ten years after the events in the first film, Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) is married to Evelyn (Rachel Weisz) and the couple has settled in London raising their 9-year-old son Alex (Freddie Boath).

When a chain of events finds the corpse of Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo) resurrected in the British Museum, Imhotep walks the earth determined to fulfill his quest for immortality. But another force has also been set loose, one born of the darkest rituals of ancient Egyptian mysticism and even more powerful than Imhotep. When these forces clash, the fate of the world will hang in the balance, sending the O'Connell's on a mission to save the world and their son before it is too late...

The Mummy
-----------------
Essentially an Indiana Jones rip-off, there's precious little originality here - but when it first came out the effects were pretty amazing. Brendan Fraser is a good actor (probably too good for this) and manages to keep you engaged in the silly plot.

The Mummy Returns
----------------------------
Pretty much a retread of the first movie, with added annoying kid. And although even less original, it's worrying to see that a few years later Lucas & Spielberg would rip off part of the ending.

Two great movies at one great price!

Downright silly, but highly entertaining romps in Egypt! The first film is undoubtedly the best, with what was, at the time, cutting edge special effects, and a great rollercoaster pace to the film. Very reminiscent of an Indiana Jones movie. The second film, the directing is a bit of let down and actors are struggling. Special effects are, well, just not special and the story is even more silly. Having said that, they are both hugely enjoyable films and well worth a watch. An unreserved five stars for a bargain deal on two great movies.

 Classics.

These 2 mummy films are amazing, so if you got into the mummy via the new one then watch these two because they are a million times better! I can remember watching these a long time ago and i still watch them 9 years on without getting bored! Buying this double movie pack would be a wise purchase!

 Good clean fun and entertainment

These films are fun and entertaining with some classic style story telling and some impressive effects, but these movies are no masterpieces, just some simple 7/10 entertainment, and can be very enjoyable.

 ONE GOOD. ONE BAD

The first film has amazing special effects great acting superb story and is one of the greatest action horror movies Ive ever seen. The story centres around rick o connel who is leading some adventurers into the city of the dead and ends up ressurecting an ancient mummy. The mummy returns is a real let down on the original and has a stupid story terrible acting and no horror elements at all. The story is set afew years after the original and it is now about the O connel family trying to kill the mummy they killed in the first one but has lots of strange kids fantasy rubbish which ruins the story. Although Im hoping the upcoming third installment will follow the same path as the original and not the sequel
