  A Brilliant film

This collection of minifilms is awesome. The stories are brilliant and the change in the style from every film really works. A great concept-movie!

The only good thing about this is that it features the voice of Kevin Conroy...i'm afraid to say that's all.
As much as i'm a fan of Batman this whole dvd seems like it was put together at last minute by someone.
It opens with multiple versions of animation of Batman in certain situations and while the stories seem intriguing the animations do not fit at all.
There is an anime Bruce Wayne who looks completely out of place, and what appears to be a very over weight and clumsy Batman appearing from the very start.
The stories are also so sort you can't tell whether you're coming or going, I genuinely felt like I didn't know where I was or what I was watching.
I was frankly disappointed that this failed to deliver, as a huge Batman fan I thought this would be a great watch as it features the voice of the most iconic Batman to date

Not the best Animated Batman movie but good

BATMAN: MASK OF THE PHANTYSYM

MOTP is my favourite Batman animated movie but this is the 2nd best one out there

The road to The Dark Knight.

Yes, the animation styling's differ quite dramatically in each episode, but that doesn't change the fact that it `bloomin' amazing. I've had this movie/dvd set for quite a while now, and have watched it time and time again. I love the Japanese style's of animation. (Very disturbing!) The story's are great too. If you like the darkness of Batman you'll love this.

  Best Animated Batman

So we have six interlocking stories all with bold and distinctive animation styles. A few of thoes Styles are worth buying this DVD for alone, the others are eye pleasing at worst, even if the story running through them isn't quite on the same wave length as the movies. Worth while but ultimatley forgettable.

A must for all fans of the bat!

Anyone who has seen the Animatrix (also worth a look!) will be familiar with this DVD offering. Comprising of 6 interlocking shorts, Gotham Knight studies the many facades to Batman through use of different animation styles.

The result is an eclectic mix of action, horror and character development. The main attraction to this boxset is the startling observations made about Batman and Bruce Banner and how unique each offering happens to be.

Some do a better job than others, as you'd expect, but they are, on the whole, extremely satisfying. Batman is one of DCs most complex characters, and this DVD doesn't hold back from the darker elements of his persona. Expect a lot of blood, some mild language and shocking beheading scene.

The most fun short is the first one, where a bunch of kids waffle about how they came into contact with Batman, each giving their own interpretation of what he looks like. My favourite short is one where Bruce seeks guidance in compartmentalising his pain, in order to keep fighting no matter how severe the wound. Very interesting.

  Too much animation change

The best animation and story here is the last one, they should have chosen which format they wanted to use and stuck with it, it all feels very incomplete. They could have made a really good full animated film here but instead its more of an experiment with different animation on each story which didn't fit right with me. Loved the last story just wish they had chosen to do a whole complete story in this style instead of many different types.

Anime Funs don't miss this one!!!

  Filler

Does an excellent job of filling in the gap(s) left behind The Dark Knight and ahead of Batman Begins, some of the animation is breathtaking, some is relatively simple yet effective. Wayne's mild struggle as his alter ego is at times wholly apparent in Batman begins and is evident in a couple of episodes here and nullified in the Dark Knight, excellent filler as it is not really a movie.

Well worth a look but primed for fans of Gotham.
