I have never done any taebo in my life and I started using this set for the past 3 weeks and I absolutely love it! I try to use at least one of the DVDS at least 3 times per week. The Active DVD has definitely helped tone my arms, I can see results already! I love the Glutes/Abs DVD. It really burns. It is really fun and it is multi-regional so I intend to take mine on holiday with me! One thing I love is that not everyone is supertoned. There are "ordinary" people doing the workout and they sometimes need to stop during the workout, just like I do. Billy walks around correcting people, which makes you think about your position. I bought this for a friend 5 years ago and she loved it, I should have listened to her back then!

Good but could have been better

The DVD's are good, but some of the exercises are way too fast. I recommend you watch and slow them down to get real benefits and to make sure you do them correctly. Also the counting of the exercises are not correct and as a result the Abs & Gluts exercises are not even. Apart from these minor issues the DV'Ds are great.

I love Billy Blanks - this box set has changed my life!! - I have shed the excess weight and it is still dropping off! The abs and glutes are hard work and have taken me a couple of weeks of persistence to get into without hurting but boy is it worth it! These are hard work but he motivates you to keep going so you enjoy it - love it!

  A WORK OF PURE GENIUS.

I bought this box set just over two years ago in a Jan sale for about £8. Talk about amazing value for money! I do it every week and know every routine like the back of my hand. Forget high priced gym classes, get this.
I've got a black belt in Aikido and have also trained extensively in Karate. The moves in Tae Bo are simpler than Martial Arts but what Billy Blanks has done is pure genius. He's taken all the moves that work and tighten muscles and simplified them down so that everybody can do them. Yet at the same time he's perfected the movements so that they work and tighten my body in a much more focused way than any Martial Arts training session has ever done.
One important thing to note is that the 'Active' and 'Energise' discs are EXACTLY THE SAME. It's totally cheeky to have two identical workout discs with different titles but even though it's really a three disc box set it's still excellent value for money. So they didn't really need to try and con us after all.
The 'abs and glutes' disc is a 30 min advanced workout. Only one workout on the disc, but it's great and very focused for your abs and butt.
'Energise' has an 8min workout, 30 min basic and 50 min advanced workout. The 8 min workouts are really 15 mins because they include a quick warm up and warm down but boy is it pumping. Like a Tae Bo sprint. I haven't done the 30 min basic for a long time but it's def the place to start your Tae Bo workout (after the instructional vid of course). The 50 min Advanced workout is awesome! It's pretty much a slightly toughter version of the 'abs and glutes' workout, with a good focus on abs and butt in the middle but with loads of good cardio at the beginning and end with a great 'tae chi esq' warm down to finish.
Forget 'Active' it's exactly the same workout as 'energise.'
'Ripped' is my favourite of the pack. This disc really is for toning and tightening the body BIG TIME. The 8min (15 min) workout is the fastest of the lot. The 30min basic is still pretty tough but the Advanced workout is the good stuff. It's a full hour of the coolest Tae Bo moves, filled with heaps of kicks, standing ab routines and it doesn't let up for a moment. Awesome stuff, but not for the faint of heart.
Small note is that the workouts are designed for women, and developed to sculpt lean and slender bodies. Perfect for women, but when I introduced my brother to Tae Bo the other day he made a good point that as a testosterone filled guy I should add a big and proper punching bag while I do it to add resistance and build strength rather than just punching the air which tones arms rather than build them. So if you're a guy grab a punching bag with your dvd so that you can build the boxing element into your workout too.
Super small note is that every workout is filled to the brim with heaps of people, so it always feels like you're working out with lots of people and there's someone for everyone to relate to.

Overall, great stuff. If everybody did Tae Bo we'd have a nation of fitter, happier people. Get it now.

This is great value for money and boy will you feel it! The good thing is that the people on the DVD are sweating it out along with you and feeling the burn as well! I felt it right away but no pain, no gain. I have tried a few workout DVD's and this is one of the better ones. He keeps you motivated all the time and encourages you to work that little bit harder. Well worth every penny!

  Excellent workout dvd!

Excellent addictive workout dvd! Definately works all your muscles, gets the viewer involved in all the action and makes you look forward to working out! You'll notice the difference, within a week my stomach was flatter & my muscles are noticably tighter & toned up!

  Not great

I got this as i needed someinthing for home as i can't get to the gym regularly - i am relitivly fit but i just can't keep up! It is too fast and confusing! Not to mention the cool down..... not so much 'cool down' as stop dead after 20 mins of pure aerobic excercise.

All 4 videos are the same - i can't see any difference in any of the moves - get boring after a week
