A lot of people have dismissed this film as a failure due to it not being "true" to the original alien films, or the original predator films, but this is causing this film great unjustice. Being a long time fan of both franchises, i was excited at the fact of this movie being made and i was not disappointed. The story is basic and so is the acting, but so many references are made to the original franchises as a way to give them a nod. Mainly, Weyland is back played by the original Weyland in Aliens, Lance Henriksen.
Overall the action is great and the aliens and predator's look great and go for each others neck in the duration of the film. Take away the bad acting and concentrate on the actual film and you will find its an enjoyable film and will want to watch it again.

Wasn't happy when news that this film had been given the green light to be made...just thought it would be a "straight to dvd" piece of forgotten dross but to my suprise it was really entertaining.
Certainly you wont be seeing this in anyones top ten movies but if you haven't seen this you just might be rewarded with a half decent movie that leaves you thinking ...Not bad that !

I've only seen Aliens, so I wasn't expecting a lot going into watching this. The plot at the outset was good and very entertaining I must say. There is an ancient pyramid miles deep below the Arctic ice where aliens and predators hunt each other for sport every 100 years. The expedition crew is gathered and soon the search starts. The film overall is okay but the ending is really disappointing and kind of weird...see for yourself. Not worth watching twice really.

As an 'Alien' film, it is an insult to the originals, even more so than Alien IV was. I'm amazed that Lance Henriksen agreed to have anything to do with it.
The series has descended into light comedy action, rather than the terror it started out as.

If you like shallow action films with vapour-thin characterisation and ridiculous ideas , you might enjoy this.
If you want atmosphere, tension, and scares, you won't find it here...

I really enjoyed this movie.

It has quite a good storyline and very gd action scenes. A lot of fans of the series complained tht it shud be more violent, and in truth it could be, but what I really liked as a person whos not into horror is that it was more of an action movie. It very much refrained from the pointless, mindless aliens kill everything scenario, and actually put a decent amount of background and plot into the story ( without overdoing it :P)

Good for a lads night in or for a bit of decent sci-fi action, but not scary by any means. =)

couldve been more bloody,gory and scary othewise its alright its got good fight sequences and a good story to it personally i wouldnt buy it u cant watch it again and again.

This film was never going to be great, i mean, have you watched any of the originals?! BUT somebody had to make this film eventually, and god am i glad they did! The action in this film is quite good, and remember i said QUITE. where the heck is the blood?! the scaryness?! there isnt anything from this movie that reminds you of the originals exept the title, the fact that it has both names in it. This film wasnt rubbish, and its well worth a watch, but i really wish they made it a 15, atleast. If it were an 18 and went on for a bit longer and added loads more action and gore, (like the second one) than i would have given this 4 stars.

Well I was a lover of the first 2 Aliens (but it all went wrong after that, when began to make them for just money) and even believed the 2 Predators were ok,

but when heard this was coming, i was completely upset, use to love the comics and games, but knew this would be poor as knew it was just being made for the money again, but when my mate wanted me to go, i desided to give it a chance and was having a good time for first half, then it did what i feared and became all Hollywood on me, with lots of mush, the Pred started to let poeple work with it and rubbish like that came in to just destroy it.

and then just when believed it could not get worse, it did something i really hate and completely left it open for a money grabbing second.

I think this film was so overhyped and badly wanted by the fans that anything under pure filming perfection would be seen as a failure. It's a good film the action is as expected (hint aliens vs predator) with a group of armed civilians stuck in the middle. The plot is a bit random in parts but the ending left it in no doubt the sequal was coming. Overall a film thats well worth a watch but it might not live up to your expectations.

everyone was having a hype over the alien vs predator film, and someone had to make it, how good of a story line can u create with a film entitled "alien vs. predator" i liked the idea of the pyramid being underground, and had to be explored even before the action starts. also the idea of the predators teaching us to build thousands of years ago, it waqs quite interesting, and visually incredible. ok so they arent really scary, but then what film scares people these days? i thought it was a good action/adventure film. people hate this film ande yet alot of people have rated freddy vs jason alot higher, to be honest alien vs. predator is the same without the cheesy teenage parties. it is also more visually entertaining too. i think people have down rated this film more since the 2nd was made, which i admit i would give 2 or 3 stars for, but the original is great
