This film has to be one of the best shark films to date. I think the best shark in the film has to be the Tiger shark it looked so real even though it was made out of airplane parts and a diesel engine it looked very good....the acting was up to scratch but i think the sharks stole the show.....
This film keeps you on the edge of your seat.. anyone thinking of buying this....should its great.
Let me begin by saying the special effect let this film down quite a bit. If they had sorted this out it could have been a lot better. But that is the only negative thing I can say really. LL Cool J stands out in the film as the best of the lead actors. The film keeps you entertained throughout. Sit back, relax and enjoy!
Bad CGI, but a good movie all the same

Some of the special effects are dire, but overall this is a good, watchable movie with some good lead performances. LL Cool J is by far the stand-out character with his pet bird, "Bird". Gory deaths, tension and humour rolled into one. A slightly bittersweet ending, but still keeps you on the edge of your seat. My biggest gripe, is there are several moments when the viewer is sitting there shouting "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?" at the screen.
BIG, DUMB AND INCREDIBLY FUN!

This is a masterpiece in B-Movie land. I first saw it at the cinema after first hearing the crazy premise.
Genetically enhanced super intelligent killer sharks break out and hunt down humans in an underwater habitat? Hey, I am there all the way!
Nothing about this film is intended to be taken seriously so just sit back and enjoy it. There's only a small amount of backstory before the sharks break out and start munching. My personal fave scene is LL Cool J trapped in an oven (in a flooded kitchen of course) with a shark trying to get at him.
Don't expect Jaws, this is not a perfect film but if you switch off your brain it passes the time quite reasonably.
DVD extras are not great. A few (boring) deleted scenes. The commentary isn't too bad (Renny Harlin and Samuel L Jackson) but there should have been a big doc about the making of the sharks.
great film!

This is a good shark thriller. The plot is silly, as sharks brains are made bigger so the fluid can be drawn from them and help human's with brain damage. The only problem is the sharks have become smarter. If you think this is possible, you must have seriouse brain damage. But as a tight thriller the film does work. As when the under water lab gets flooded the sharks get in. As the survivors try to escape in the waist high flooded complex, the sharks start hunting. This leads to some excellent tention filled sequences, and some over the top deaths. Samuel L.Jackson is brilliant, and his team bonding speach that is cut short is shocking, very unexpected and very funny. The film does suffer from taking it's self too seriouse, but Thomas Jane makes a good hero, and LL Cool Jay is good value for money as the comic releaf cook. The Anamtronic sharks are the real stars, as they are very realistic and let down by at times some shoddy CGI work. The film moves along at a great pace by Renny ( Die Hard )Harlin as he knows how to put together some great action sequences, The braking of the giant window is a reel whit knuckle moment. Apart from some real big gaps in logic, this is the best shark thriller since Jaws. But never comes anywhere close to being as good as that classic. A good nights brain dead entertainment, If you like Tremors and Lake Placid, you will like this.
A great shark film
