They only met once, but it changed their lives forever.

Without doubt, John Hughes' The Breakfast Club is one of the greatest teen movies of all-time, if not the best. Without it, we might not have witnessed the phenomenal rise of the 'brat pack'; the group of actors synonymous with the teen films of the '80s.

They were five teenage students with nothing in common, faced with spending a Saturday detention together in their High School library. At 7am, they had nothing to say, but by 4pm, they had bared their souls to each other and become good friends. To the outside world they were simply the Jock, the Brain, the Criminal, the Princess, and the Kook, but to each other, they would always be the Breakfast Club.

The film's title comes from the nickname invented by students and staff for detention at the school attended by the son of one of John Hughes' friends. Thus, those who were sent to detention were designated members of "The Breakfast Club".

5 kids come together at 7am saturday morning for detention each from their own backgrounds, each with their own reason for being there and each with their own baggage.
You have the jock(Estevez) forced to do what keeps his overbearing dad happy,The homecoming princess(Ringwald) the pawn in her mother and fathers bitter war,The geek(Hall) focused only on his grades and keeping his parents happy,The outcast(Sheedy) a compulsive liar with problems fitting into normal life and The rebel(Nelson) hard has nails on the outside but lost and lonely beaten by his drunk father most nights.
At 7am these 5 were strangers but by 5pm they will have shared things with each other that they would never tell to their closet friends,They become The Breakfast Club.
Superbly cast, written and directed by the king of 80's teen/drama flicks John Hughes this is and always will be the defining teen movie that shaped a generation of 16 year old kids from the mid 80's.This really is a fantastic movie that has a great cast, amazing soundtrack and is one of my favourite 80's films and also one of my all time favourite movies for this price it is a must for your collection and if you have never seen it buy it today you will not be left disapointed 10/10.

John Hughes was the king of the teen drama / comedy in the 80's.
What made the films ring true to the aimed teen viewer, was his accurate writing of teenage angst and the ever widening cap between what the kids wanted compared to what the adults wanted from there kids. The Breakfast club is no exception to the rule, the film centres around a bunch of kids on detention one saturday morning. The kids are the usual cross section. The Prom queen, the Goth, the Nerd, the rebel and the Jock. But Hughes writes the characters in a believable manner, with all there faults and all there hang ups eventually coming to the surface. To say the film is mostly set in one location, and for it still to entertain, is a direct reflection of the brilliant young cast and Hughes's ability to write real characters. This is one of the best teen Dramas of the 80's that is both funny and touching in equal measures,
that leaves you asking, what happened to there careers after the fires went out?

Some of the brat pack movies that came out in the 1980s were really bad (weird science) but this movie is one of the best teen movies ever. The teens in it are all from different social status'. They really don't get along at all but over the coarse of the film they really get to know each other and are good friens by the end. Watch judd nelson as he steals the show as the character john bender. Buy this
