I watched this with my wife and we were both disappointed.
The film starts with much promise but fades away. We both couldn't wait for it to end.
The story line lacked depth and it clearly showed.
For your own sake, do not buy this film

This is a shocking film. No plot, Jude Law was awful and for the first time ever, I walked out on a film. Terrible, awful, shocking, tear jerking for all the wrong reasons, just some words/phrases to describe this film.

I can understand other reviewers being disappointed comparing films to originals, but it is often very unfair on the film itself. I had the luxury for that reason of having never seen the original, I could therefore watch this with an open mind, and albeit this is not the sort of film I would normal watch, I was really surprised to find a great film. This was a well made, slick film, which held my attention to the end as you watch Alfie live the bachelor lifestyle, paying the consequences for his playboy antics, and narrating his thoughts to the camera. The film has the added bonus of a leading role for a very talented actor in Jude Law who plays the role in a strong and believable manner. I have watched this film many times now and recommend it highly.
A Disappointment

I saw the original many years ago when Michael Caine was just starting out. And that was a 'must see' film. This film is a poor attempt at a copy. It has no realism and no emotion. And to put it bluntly it was boring. I bought the film but wished I had only rented it. I will never watch it again.
Could have been alot better

The concept of a remake always suffers when the film-makers attempt to do something different with the character. Law plays it just too smug and humourless to be likeable in this effort. There's some beautiful women on the upside :)
Smooth Operator

Have never seen the original but i cannot see Michael Caine been so suave, chic and stylish as Jude Law. Alfie is your New York playboy.... limos, lifestyle, women and sex! Refusing to commit.... but is Alfie leaving it too late! Jude is tres tres chic in gucci and prada.... and the irony of acting the playboy..... then leaving his wife, Sadie Frost to be with co star Sienna Miller. Great scenes of New York too!
