This is a strongly divisive but nonetheless effective piece of filmmaking based on a true story, in which an American woman tries to escape from Iran with her daughter....
Moody is an Iranian doctor working in the U.S. On a trip home with his wife Betty and young daughter he decides that he wants to stay in his homeland. Betty refuses, complaining about the treatment of women in his country, but soon finds that she has no choice in the matter. With nothing and no one on her side Betty has to create and escape plan but her husband will not give up his daughter.
Based on a true story the shocking tale of oppression and courage is unforgettable.

I recently bought this film for my mum as she have been looking for it for years now. We were extremely excited when we found it, but whilst watching we were extremely dissapointed. The quality was horrendous after about 20 minutes of viewing. I was left deeply saddened as this film was one of my mums favourites.
I hope no-one else has had this problem.

This is a compelling watch. Although slightly old now, I remember this film when first released. I have bought it to show my girls the true reality of what can go on in life. When talking amongst friends they too remember being read this (before film) as well ,when they themselves were a youngster! Its even more harrowing to know its based on a true story.
Great film!

I've seen this a few times on TV and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sally Field is excellent and it's a gritty drama showing the changes she faces coming from the US and how different life can be, along with losing the freedom she takes for granted.
