  Iconic,if a little slow

A truly great and Iconic western that was one of the first to dispell the Hollywood fuelled myth that the Old West was all perfect teeth, white tassled jumpsuit wearing good guys and guitar playing crooners who just had to whistle and their horse would appear from nowhere.Dollars is gritty, brutally real and shows the true hardships and short life expectency of those who lived through the pioneering days. The only down side is that occasionally the story drags. This unfortunatley is a fault in all of Leone's movies. But you do get caught up in the legend that was to be Clint Eastwood so the plot does take second place to what at the time was a real first.

Eastwood in a great western directed by teacher of the king, Sergio Leone. It must be a part of your collection!

  The Original Spaghetti Western

A gunslinger arrives in a town ruined by the constant fighting between two rival gangs. Realising there is a profit to be made he decides to play the gangs against each other but soon finds the stakes raised far higher.

Truth be told I have never been a huge fan of the spaghetti western but this is certainly one of the best examples of the genre with Clint Eastwood of course faultless as 'the man with no name'. For your money you get everything you would expect from a western of this era including the obligatory close up shots during shootouts, a dramatic score and badly dubbed Mexican actors.

When compared to more modern westerns such as 3:10 To Yuma these older movies don't quite stand up but there is certainly still enjoyment to be had in watching a masterful director like Sergio Leone do his thing.

This is the first of the 'man with no name' speghetti westerns. Amazing soundtrack, very violent and amazing camerawork as well. Highly recommended for fans of old cowboys films, and especially for Clint Eastwood fans as well. An old school classic.

The three films in this trilogy are MUST see films and you should see them before you die. It has some really great cinematography, an excellent, some really great characters like ramon rojo and the famous man with no name. The story is also excellent but it was the actor who played ramon who stole the show. He played crazy in heath ledger dark knight kinda way and was the main reason i liked it
