Bossa Nova began on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro in 1958 when a group of musicians came together to create a new sound. Bossa Nova was a soft samba based on traditional Brazilian music and rhythms, combining the coolness of West Coast American jazz.

At the centre of this explosion are two important figures: songwriters Carlos Lyra and Roberto Menescal, who brought together Rio's finest exponents of Bossa Nova - Tom Jobim, Joao Gilberto, and Vinicius de Moraes.

Presented by Lyra and Menescal, Bossa Brazil: Stories of Love is a 50th birthday celebration of the music, taking us back in time to the places, events and people who created hits such as Desafinado and One Note Samba and The Girl from Ipanema.

With new live performances from major Bossa Nova artists, Interviews and rare archive footage, Bossa Brazil is a definite history of this much loves music that seduced the world, in the same way that The Buena Vista Social Club was for Cuban music
