Red Dwarf has been stolen and our intrepid heroes are hot on its trail. Starbug, unable to match its speed, has to take a short-cut to overtake it. Unfortunately this involves going through a very dangerous area which is patrolled by rogue droids that absolutely despise humans. Rimmer creates a a world populated by his clones, Lister gets married, Kryten becomes Sheriff in the Wild West and they meet their future selves who want to kill them.

Psirens: In pursuit of the stolen Red Dwarf, Lister and Co are attacked by Psirens - creatures who lure space-farers to their deaths with a lethal combination of telepathic manipulation and scanty clothing.

Legion: Supplies are low. The water has been recycled so often, it's beginning to taste like Dutch lager. Then a malfunctioning guidance beam drags the Dwarfers to a deserted space station...

Gunmen Of The Apocalypse: Kryten contracts a deadly computer virus and Rimmer and Co are forced to enter his electronic mindscape. They find themselves in a wild west town, facing a gunfight against metaphysical gunslingers...

Emohawk - Polymorph II: The Dwarfers need replacement engine parts from the fearsome stomach-churningly ugly 'Kinitawowi'. But the GELF tribe are interested in only one trade: Lister must marry the chief's daughter

Rimmerworld: Trapped aboard a disintegrating ship, Rimmer abandons his crewmates, taking the only remaining escape pod. As he accelerates towards a nearby wormhole, he discovers the pod has no steering controls!

Out Of Time: When an identical ship materialises alongside Starbug, the crew are alarmed to receive an SOS call from themselves: fifteen years into the future...

Series 6, and the second of my favourite episodes of all time - 'Gunmen of the Apocalypse' (with added fan commentary) Sending the crew into a Western-themed construct of Kryten's consciousness results in a wonderfully directed and scripted half hour of comic brilliance and allows all the cast to play out all their childhood cowbot fantasies. And on this typically fun-packed DVD there lies a fascinating little featurette focusing on the town where the episode was filmed (the only Western town in the UK) when Robert Llewelyn visits ten years on from the shows filming. Other highlights of this sixth season (sadly the peak before the fall) was the hilarious 'Legion' and the brilliant final episode 'Out of Time' Ending on a quite fantastic cliffhanger fans were left positively salivating at the prospect of a seventh series. Sadly, the final two series never lived up to the unalloyed brilliance of the previous six but it certainly was far from the end...

I've got rather mixed feelings about this sixth run of Red Dwarf. On the one hand you've got classics like the award winning "Gunmen of the Apocalypse" and the excellent sequel story "Emohawk - Polymorph II" and on the other I personally was less than satisfied with the conclusion to season finale "Out of Time". As before the first disc offers up a hidden Easter egg extra to be found in the 'select episode' option. By selecting this and then choosing "Gunmen of the Apocalypse" you'll find a sheriff's badge to the right of the second chapter. Pressing enter on this icon will launch the 6 min 'talking heads' feature on this particular story. The bonus features disc (which I initially found a little difficult to navigate around) follows the usual format spearheaded by an original 'making of' documentary which this time around is entitled "The Starbuggers" and weighs in at 74 mins. Another gargantum load of deleted scenes (approx 43 mins) sits alongside a 2 ½ min themed featurette ("Sick"), approx 18 mins of 'Smeg Ups' and 141 images in the self selection Photo Gallery on the standard extras usually common to these releases. For items unique to this particular title you've got two mute footage extras (raw effects - 13 ¾ mins and 8mm black&white Model Maker Footage approx - 6 mins), a worthy and interesting 29 mins with incidental music composer Howard Goodall in 'Setting the Score'. The celebrations continue for the "Gunmen..." story with Robert Llewellyn taking a sentimental journey back to the location in a 10 min "Return to Laredo" feature plus director Andy de Emmony offers 4 mins of his thoughts on the production. Also let's not forget the worthy inclusion of a 6 min 'behind the scenes' look at the making of season opener "Psirens". Together with the worthy standard 12 page 'collector's booklet' the high level of quality we've come to expect from 2 disc Red Dwarf releases is ably maintained and is a fine addition to the range.

This is one of the best series, if not the best of a brilliant comedy. There's so many laugh, and great episodes in this, you got to get it. If your going to only get one series this would probably the best one to have, but don't leave it at that get some of the earlier episodes as well. You have some of the best episode's in the Red Dwarf series. The extras a very good as well. This laugh a minute comedy, is a must for any one who likes a laugh.
