Whist this subject matter will never make easy viewing this superb series does a magnificent job of explaining how the industrialisation of genocide was enacted, even if it is impossible for any civilised human being to understand why. With eye witness accounts from both persecuted and persecutors it provides another chapter of incontrovertible proof in the documentation of the holocaust and, in my opinion, should be required viewing in all secondary schools. We should never be allowed to forget that we can bring such horror on ourselves nor the sheer banality of evil.

I congratulate the BBC once again for making another impartial documentary of one of history's most tragic events. This six part documentary might be hard to watch for some people but it must be watched.

I guess we have all heard the story before, but BBC manages to tell it in a way we have never earlier seen. Using CGI they rebuild some of the camps as never seen before, and key moments are brought to life by good actors. The most disturbing to watch is the interviews with survivors, both jews and nazis. The jews tell stories that are so unbelievably horrifying, while some of the nazis, even now more than 60 years later, still show no sign of regret and with a shrug of their shoulders tries to minimize their monstrous actions.
This documentary should be shown to all young people at school.

Very interesting viewing, not great but then you cannot enjoy watching this can you, fascinating yet disturbing as you would expect it to be, i'm not ashamed to admit i cried watching this, and I am a 35 year old bloke, well i have 2 kids of me own, and seeing children in this knowing full well what was going to happen, well, what can I say. This will make you angry watching this too!, Its history and should not be forgotten, with accounts from survivors, archive footage, and commentry from actual germans that worked at aushwitz as well as some of the heroic people that survived..this documentary deals with all aspects of death that the nazi scum dished out.(Sorry about the last bit there)
