Clint Eastwood directs Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich in Changeling a provocative thriller based on actual events.

Los Angeles, 1928: On a Saturday morning in a working-class suburb, Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie) said goodbye to her son, Walter, and left for work. When she came home, she discovered he had vanished. A fruitless search ensues, and months later, a boy claiming to be the nine-year-old is returned. Dazed by the swirl of police, reporters and her conflicted emotions, Christine allows him to stay overnight. But in her heart, she knows he is not Walter.

As she pushes authorities to keep looking, she learns that in Prohibition-era L.A. women don't challenge the system and live to tell their story. Slandered as delusional and unfit, Christine finds an ally in activist Reverend Briegleb (Malkovich), who helps her fight the city to look for her missing boy.

Yet another brilliant film from Clint Eastwood - the maestro of immaculate film-making. Changeling tells the story of a working woman who's son goes missing, only to be returned by the police unharmed shortly after his disappearance. However, there's a catch, the mother does not believe this 'new' boy to be her son! What follows is a myriad of plot twists and turns, as we meet corrupt policeman, an eccentric Reverend, and a series of sinister characters.
The acting is fantastic, with Angelina Jolie and Jeffrey Donovan managing to portray their characters perfectly without over-acting their parts (which would have been an easy mistake).
Eastwood perfectly captures 1920s America, the end of the jazz era, with doom and corrupton in the air as the 'Roaring Twenties' end with the Stock Market crash and the first 'Red Scare', a gloomy background presence in this harrowing tale.
I strongly recommend this film, and think it a tragedy that it was overlooked in the Oscars, especially the lead performance from Jolie.

 Another Oscar for Eastwood?

OK, so it's not the most convincing of films, and it sometimes moves from drama to melodrama, but for the most part this is a faultless exercise in directing and acting.

With Gran Torino as well, Eastwood is on the best form since Unforgiven - and hopefully there's more to come.

There are plenty of twists in the plot, and you can't really go into much detail without spoiling the film. However, there's a lot more to this movie than the rather unengaging trailer.

 Beautiful yet tragic

Inspired by true events, this beautiful and challenging film is jolie at her best. She gets a real chance to shine. At the time of writing, this film is at the cinemas. If you can get to see it, do it, you will not regret it. Michelle martin is another fantastic actress, and helps bring the tragic story together. A bittersweet tale of hope, redemption and fear. The movie of 08.

This film is about the stupidity ignorance and sneaky antics of people and how a brave woman stood up to lies in a pursuit of truth. I think the way it was acted the story and the way it was filmed make this a first class experience that a male or feamle audiance will love. 9.5 out of 10 I have tried to avoid ruining the story all I will say is you will not regret a rent or purchase here

 A Terrifying Experience.

This film is so not what I thought I was going to be watching.
I thought it was gonna be a standard story of a Mother and Son parting and then reuniting.
But it is much more. The side story that is incorporated at the farm, is Heartbreaking and Sickening.
The film is a very good film but a completely Sad experience.
The Direction by Clint Eastwood and the Acting from Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich is First Rate.
John Malkovich should have been given a few more meaty scenes to get his teeth into.
A Very good film, but only a One Time watch due to the subject matter.
