Review

This is the US version of the Japanese film, 'Ringu'; continuing the recent vogue for Hollywood remakes of foreign movies.

It begins as just another urban legend - the whispered tale of nightmarish videotape that causes anyone who watches it to die seven days later. But when four teenagers all meet with mysterious deaths exactly one week after watching just such a tape, investigative reporter Rachel Keller tracks down the video...and watches it. Now, the legend is coming true, the clock is ticking and Rachel has just seven days to unravel the mystery of The Ring.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars scared the hell out of me!!

I have seen the Japanese version of this film which I thought was scarey, but this really scared me. I have seen many horror films and only this film and the Exorcist have actually scared me for days. This is a film that doesn't scare you while you watch it, but scares you after wards. I watched this film for the first time and then forgot about it, until a week later when I was in the shower and realized it had been 7 days since I had seen the film, it then freaked me out a bit!! The second time I watched it, I made my boyfriend watch it after me within 7 days!! After he watched it, he said thank you very much, now I have to find someone to watch it!!! This film scared me after I watched it, not during. It is very good, recommended to be freaked out!!!

why would you remake and destroy the name of the original japanese movie?
this remake is dire!
buy the japanese version instead, much more scarier and freaky!

I must admit, at no point watching this did I jump, screaming "holy shxt!!!". I didnt find it that scary. Rather disturbing at points, but not omg scary. It was nice seeing that bad guy form the Bourne film, he's cool=] The plot was, um, different, and Im still not quite sure how the deas girl made the tape, and even though the acting was quite crummy at points, it got me interested, and held my interest, almost to the end. It did feel too long, with it look like its finished, then explaining everything, and then finally finishing with a cliffhanger...=/ I dont think it should be a horror film, maybe a thriller, but apart from the odd wierd image, i wdnt have minded my 10 year old sister watching it. Worth it if you can get it quite cheap=]
