JFK, Oliver Stone's powerful film about the shots heard round the world and the mystery that still surrounds them, is one of the most provocative movies of our time. In addition to its box office success, critical acclaim and awards, it played a major role in the national debate that led to the passage of the 1992 Assassination Materials Disclosure Act.

Firstly i would say to you please ignore the review below this film is not in any way historically incorrect at all.
If you read jim garrison's book you would see that the film sticks very close to true events the film depite being over 3 hours passes by very quick and keeps your intrest peaked all the time.
The film has a fantastic cast kevin costner gives the best performance of his career kevin bacon, tommy lee jones, gary oldman, michael rooker and the best performance of them all comes from joe pesci.
The film is a must see and is up there with oliver stones greatest achivements i would say you must see this film if you have been put off as many think its a history film please you must watch this film and let it sweep over you and leave you with the question we all want answered who really killed kennedy as we all know it wasnt lee harvey oswald and this film goes a long way to clearing his name.

 Historically flawed, but very entertaining.

JFK has long been one of my favourite films. I bought this special edition as soon as it came out. The subject is fascinating. Could one guy really have shot the president, without any help, despite all the security and police there that day. Like most people, I think not. Oliver Stone isn't the greatest director. His films are often too long and overblown (World Trade Centre was awful. Watch United 93, which is far better). JFK however, is easily his best movie. The colour and black and white mix that he shoots the film in works incredibly well, and the cast involved must be one of the best in years. Jack Lemmon, Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Oldman, Donald Sutherland and many more. Even Kevin Costner does a good job as New Orleans District Attorney, Jim Garrison, the only man to take anyone to trial over the JFK assassination. The last hour of the film, during the trial is probably the weakest on repeat viewing. I have seen this at least 15 times. The first two hours, where he is investigating, and witnesses are being killed and all sides are trying to put him off is mesmerising. Also try Nixon, which was filmed similarly, but just isn't quite as good or interesting. Anthony Hopkins tries very hard, but just doesn't look like Richard Nixon. p.s The extras on JFK are also very good. If it is a moment of history you are as interested in as I am, you can't afford to miss them.

A very in-depth film into the JFK assassination.
Great cast and superb film making by Oliver Stone that captures the lives and events surrounding the assassination.
An excellent watch consisting of flashbacks and theorys.
