The greatest legend of all was real.
Oliver Stone's Alexander is based on the true story of one of history's most luminous and influential leaders, Alexander the Great (Colin Farrell) - a man who had conquered 90% of the known world by the age of 27. Alexander led his virtually invincible Greek and Macedonian armies through 22,000 miles of sieges and conquests in just eight years, and by the time of his death at the age of 32 had forged an empire unlike any the world had ever seen. The film chronicles Alexander's path to becoming a living legend, from a youth fueled by dreams of myth, glory and adventure to his lonely death as a ruler of a vast Empire. Alexander is the incredible story of a life that united the known world and proved, if nothing else, fortune favours the bold.
This release of Oliver Stone's Alexander features his director's cut (167 mins); which re-imagines and re-shapes the original theatrical film, with virtually hundreds of edits and re-configurations of sequences.

Out of 700 DVD's this is the only film I have ever returned. I was expecting a great epic along the style of greats such as Gladiator and Braveheart but it did not happen. I could not get into this film and at time's it made me cringe with cheesy acting. I did not enjoy this at all. If you are tempted and expect a great film you won't find it here. I give it two stars due to the price as this is my opinion and others seemed to enjoy it.
Okay.

Reading some of the other reviews this film has recieved, I wasn't entirely certain when I sat down to watch it. But I actually found it quite good! There are some 'oh my god, how corny can you get?!' moments but apart from that it was rather interesting! And as for the homosexuality part of it, well, it's really not that obivous and it does fit in with how the Greeks were.
3 Hours i'll never get back

Looking at the preivous reviews this is obviously a love it or hate it film and i'm afraid i hated it. All I can say is after this film ended all I could think was what a waste of 3 hours that i'll never get back. This is a typical americanized historical film where obviously they forgot to do any research. Can't wait for the remark of the bible where they have Jesus as a gun toting maniac set in or a Second World War film where the french are the heros.
Don't waste your time on this film and I beg you don't waste your money.
