In the year 2019 the world is overrun with vampires. Humans are an endangered, second class species - hunted to the brink of extinction and then farmed to feed the vampires' thirst for blood. The remaining humans are in hiding and as blood supplies run low, the terrifying consequences of vampire starvation are becoming more apparent - the normally civilised vampire population will turn into feral blood sucking monsters if a blood substitute is not found. Stylish, provocative and action packed, Daybreakers stars Ethan hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill.

Set in the year 2019 the vampire disease as spread to pretty much the whole population and only a few humans survive on the run from the vampire army who hunt them down to harvest them for blood.
Ethan Hawke plays the vampire doctor searching for a blood substitute so the vampires can stop harvesting humans for blood and stop them becoming extinct.
Willem Defoe plays the former vampire who by accident found the cure for the disease and returned to being human now he and Hawke and a small band of humans must fight the vampires led by the nasty Sam Neil to ensure humans survive.
I thought this film was a fresh take on vampire films it is different to Blade and John Carpenters Vampires but in a good way it as lots of blood and guts like you would expect from any decent vampire film but as a nice twist to it with the normal humans becoming vampires from a disease.
Well worth watching for fans of action films and anyone who like vampire flicks a good cast and a very good unique story.

 Odd Little Film

Very strange film, still can't decide whether I liked it or not. It's supposed to be a global vampire take over yet (due to budget restraints) we only see a few locations which kinda' destroys the whole idea of the film.

The performances are all good from an excellent cast but it never seems to take off, and just when it appears it may, it ends rather quickly (and violently).

One point regarding the dvd is that this is the uncut 18 rated version, whereas the producers released a cut 15 for the cinema. This is getting annoying now as companies are doing this to get firstly more people in the cinema, then also getting people to watch it again for the full film when it comes to dvd. Quite frankly to me it says stop going to the cinema and wait for the dvd release, as it's the only way you'll see the full film these days, especially with horror titles.

 Fantastic!

Having seen the trailers for this film I was looking forward to seeing it in the cinema, and I wasn't disappointed.
Daybreakers is a fresh take on the vampire genre which provides a great commentary on humanity.
Substitute disease for vampirism for a minute and bear with me.
If humanity had a chance to cure cancer once and for all, would we grab it with both hands, or would the powers that be squash any attempt to damage their profit margins?
The film was brilliant, fast paced with believable characters and superb acting. Any film that promotes debate afterwards has surely got to be a good thing too, right?

 A CUT ABOVE THE REST!

After watching the trailer to this film, and with so many vampire flicks out there right now, my expectations for this film wern't to high.
How wrong I was! This film breathes new life into the vampire genre, with a great story line, great cast and great acting.
Dont miss out!

im sorry robbert patterson fans...BUT these are at least drniking human blood, burning in sunlight, i repeat burning not sparkling like a disgruntled disco ball, and also its getttin a much better message across than, "im sorry bella, im going to leave you", "why?", "because u smell funny". If you really wanted to go deeper into the meaning then ou could even go so far as to say that this is making a staement about our own finite resources running out.
