  Really underated

I love how this film isn't the average vampire film. Vampire films are normally set in the modern day world or in the past. But this is actually set a considerable amount of time in the future.

The ideas that were in the film were really good and it was nice to see something different. The idea of there being a blood ration crisis really worked well. Ethan Hawke put in a good performance but Willem Dafoe once again steals it.

Unfortunately this film didn't seem to have a big enough budget and the film seemed a little cheap at times and short too. Because of that, this is going to be 4/5 but it's close to a 5*.

There isn't a lot of gore considering it is a vampire film, I suppose the last scenes are a little more gory than your average 15 certified films though.

This film is set in the not so distance future and is a breath of fresh air in the Horror/Sci Fi category. An all star cast that doesn't disappoint.
Any real movie fan will love this film.

Not a patch on the Underworld trilogy, they're far better in my opinion, plenty of gore but hey,we've seen it all before....Still a decent film, just let down because it's not as good as some of the other reviewers make out....

this was an amazing vampire film that kept me on the edge of my seat. Brilliant story line and a good cast. In my top 10 vampire films for sure.

this along with 30 days of night and let the right one in, are the ONLY good vampire movies ever made. the story is different, nearly everyone is a vampire and humans are almost extinct, and the vamps need to find a source of blood, and quickly. great performances all round, and the story line unfolds not quite like expecting, which is good. very, very gory especially towards the end, 4 starts instead of 5 as a slow lead up. overall, fantastic and well worth a watch

After countless vampire garbage flung about these days it was good to finally watch a film with a good take on an old classic villain.

Gore & action served up in full flow, some interesting turns and overall a good watch - suprised it didn't receive more accolade.

  bloody good

there are some mixed reviews about this film and everybody has there right to there own opinion.but i think this film is bloody brilliant.its a very different sort of vampire film from the others out there and i think thats where people misunderstood the film.yes its very gory and dark but the screenplay is brilliant in that they try and find a cure from how to go from a vampire back to a human.its not your usuall blood/viral cures but in using the sun and fire as another means is genius and very different.the cast of ethan hawke and sam neill give brilliant performances and the cgi effects are world class.there are 2 versions of this film both uncut a theatrical cut and unseen cut both are good but get the unseen cut for more extended gore scenes.overall fangtastic vampire film

  A good 'different' vampire yarn

I really liked this. Thhe alternate society thing works well and I enjoyed the whole film from start to finish. It is true that there is not loads of action, but the set pieces there are are good to enhannce the story. I bought this on the fly, expected nothing and got a fantastic film. If you expect too much you may be disappointed. Expect nothing and you won't be. Not as good as Blade for gadgets, action & mayhem but this story is different and quality.

Average 3 and a half stars?

Really ? Slow pace that fizzles out to a unfulfilling ending. I would leave the Unseen edition unseen.
