Winner of 8 Acadamy Awards and 7 Baftas including Best Film and Best Director.

Today is the biggest day in Jamal Malik's life.

A Penniless, eighteen year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, he's one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, suddenly, he is arrested on suspicion of cheating. After all, how could an uneducated street kid possibly know so much? Determined to get to the bottom of Jamal's story, the jaded Police Inspector spends the night probing Jamal's incredible past, from his riveting tales of the slums where he and his brother Salim survived by their wits to his hair-raising encounters with local gangs to his heartbreak over Latika, the unforgettable girl he loved and lost.

Each chapter of Jamal's increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show's seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show?

When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out... The result is the sweeping, stylish, intoxicatingly human experience of Slumdog Milliomaire, the new film from acclaimed director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, Millions, 28 Days Later, Sunshine). Part exhilarating love story, part eye-catching journey into the underbelly of the so-called "maximum city" of Mumbai, part stirring tale of an Everyman's triumph against a harsh, cynical world, Slumdog Millionaire is a visceral, action-packed Dickensian epic for the 21st Century. At the heart of its exhuberant storytelling lies the the intriguing question of how anyone comes to know the things they know about life and love.
  • Free Exclusive Script Book (RRP 9.99): In addition to the complete screenplay, the book includes a foreword by Simon Beaufoy, an introduction and exclusive Q&A with Danny Boyle and complete cast and crew credits.

Danny Boyle yet again proves to be one of the most versatile directors in film with this latest addition to his sterling Filmogaphy.
Slumdog Millionaire follows a young man's story through his life in Mumbai (former Bombay) and how he crossed paths with the answers to each question in a present game of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Starting life in a poor working family and ending up a street-kid, or Slumdog, with his elder brother, his life is one of the most remarkable stories told, and his encounters with bizarre situations and an eclectic range of characters keeps this film enthralling and entertaining. The entire film plays with your emotions, as you witness all-time lows and uplifting highs, and you are left inspired and overwhelmed by Boyle's magnificent feat. It deserved every bit of Oscar attention and in terms of both the film's plot and it's Hollywood success, it has become the ultimate underdog story of the last decade.

I'm a big fan of director danny boyle's work, as almost every film is different to the one previouse, from labrynth like thrillers, to dealing with drug addiction, then finding paradise in the beach, to an apolaclyptic virus outbreak, followed by a kid friendly fantasy, then only to go into into space. Slumdog is no exception to the rule.
But some how i was not drawn to this as much as boyle's other work, but i am so glad i did take the time out to catch up with it, as it truly deserves all the hype. To be truly honest this is one of the biggest ciematic joys in recent years. This is not just a story of the indian underdog winning who wants to be a millionare, it's much, much more. As the story of the kids growing up in a india that never has be witnessed, it's as uplifting as it is saddening, as the film deals with the darker side of this fascinating country. But always throughout the film the feeling of hope is at the forefront. Directed with such a colourful style with a brilliant soundtrack. Slumdog is a film that can be relished over and over. This truly deserves the many oscars that it gained.
It's funny, shocking, maddening, a truly uplifting movie experience.
Outstanding!

Ludicrous storyline, average script, average acting, average cinematography. It's okay and if you're into happy endings, then it's worth a watch, but by no means is it anything radical, amazing, or spectacular.
