I'm a big fan of director danny boyle's work, as almost every film is different to the one previouse, from labrynth like thrillers, to dealing with drug addiction, then finding paradise in the beach, to an apolaclyptic virus outbreak, followed by a kid friendly fantasy, then only to go into into space. Slumdog is no exception to the rule.
But some how i was not drawn to this as much as boyle's other work, but i am so glad i did take the time out to catch up with it, as it truly deserves all the hype. To be truly honest this is one of the biggest ciematic joys in recent years. This is not just a story of the indian underdog winning who wants to be a millionare, it's much, much more. As the story of the kids growing up in a india that never has be witnessed, it's as uplifting as it is saddening, as the film deals with the darker side of this fascinating country. But always throughout the film the feeling of hope is at the forefront. Directed with such a colourful style with a brilliant soundtrack. Slumdog is a film that can be relished over and over. This truly deserves the many oscars that it gained.
It's funny, shocking, maddening, a truly uplifting movie experience.
