Based on the book by Sophie Kinsella Cofessions Of A Shopaholic stars Isla Fisher as Rebecca - a reporter with money problems!

Rebecca Bloomwood just hit rock bottom - but she's never looked better! She has a fabulous flat in New York's trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season's must-haves. The only trouble is that she can't actually afford any of it.

Her job writing for a financial magazine not only bores her to tears, it doesn't pay much at all. Hounded by letters from her credit card company Becky tries cutting back; she even tries making more money. But none of her efforts succeeds.

Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyses a chain of events that will transform her life and the lives of those around her forever.

Nowhere near as good as the Books

This film lets the books down badly. Becky Bloomwood is british in the books and lives in the UK. But in the film she is suddenly American. Its VERY irritating to watch if you are a huge becky fan from reading the books. Isla Fisher does play Becky very well its just a shame its with the wrong accent.
I wouldnt bother with the film. Stick to the books and you will get more laughs!!!!
I know Sophie Kinsella has been slated on her website for allowing this awful americanised version of her book to be made and fans feel she sold out to hollywood and the cash.
Its such a shame as i hope this film doesnt stop people reading the books as it just doesnt do them justice.

I went to see this movie because i am a bit of a shopaholic myself and my dad said it would do me good! It was hallarious! It does help you cut down on your shopping as well but it is so funny! The main character Rebecca is a shopaholic and everythime she goes into a shop she has to buy something until her card was - declined. She realy wants to get back on track and wants to take up a job for her favourite fashion magazine but instead ends up working at a 'Savings magazine' and going to 'Shopaholic anonomous' and with the hepl of her best friend tries to pay off her bills and throw out her clothes, but she also falls in love and gets herself into even more trouble. You will have to watch it to find out waht happens. As I said it is extremely funny and I would recomend it to all girls as it is a Chic Flic. You only have to wach the trailor to get you hooked. So get this on DVD, I promise you won't regret it! I am deffinetley buying this.

This adaptation was very different from the book, the story chose to go down different avenues and a few of the characters we missing which resulted in rebecca not having any depth. As a film on its own it was perfect to sit with friends and laugh with, a perfect feel good film that I could watch over again.
