The Univited centers around two teenage sisters Anna and Alex Rydell (Emily Browning and Arielle Kebbel) who return home from a mental hospital only to find their recovery unraveling because of a cruel stepmother, an ignorant father and a lingering, scary ghost. With their mental states deteriorating can they stay alive in a haunted house where the only thing they have is each other?

The Univited is based on Kim Jee-Woon's 2003 Korean horror film Janghwa Hongryeon which in turn is founded on a classic Korean folk tale.

This film was very good. There were lots of jumpy moments and a few spooky bits and a brilliant unexpected twist at the end. If you enjoy thrillers you should like this film.

I went to see the Unborn, and was very very disappointed to say the least, and when I went to see this I was expecting much the same. I have to say I was wrong. The storyline was fantastic, and the twist at the end was totally unexpected, I say this as a person who is usually spot on at guessing these things. The twist tied in with the rest of the film, and the jumpy bits were actually jumpy! Something that you don't usually get from todays horror films.
I would definitely recommend this film, it is absolutley brilliant!

Loved it and wow the plot at the end ..... !

Brilliant film€the best psychological thriller i've seen since last year's the orphanage. It's not at all the out-and-out scare-fest the trailer and advertising might lead you to believe, but it will certainly grab your attention and draw you in.

Very clever writing and good production lift the uninvited way above recent disappointments such as the unborn. To give away any of the story would ruin the film, suffice to say that it's not as predictable as it may at first seem. Tense, intriguing and for the most part well-paced, this will have you glued to your seat.

Definitely recommended, and a welcome return to the big screen for the talented emily browning. Excellent!

 not a bad effort for a re-make

as re-makes go this is probably the best one yet but as said in another review its just a carbon copy,it doesnt atempt to be its own film making it all a bit dull, american actors just dont suit these types of film, they just cant seem to capture the fear in their acting like the korean actors/actresses can,not a bad attempt but id say rent dont buy until the price is down
