At first I did not expect this film to be great, but then as soon as you start watching I changed my mind, this is a true masterpiece and is wonderfully written and great acting from all the cast, this film deals with subjects that are unique and this gives the movie unpredictability and as a viewer that becomes enjoyment
Overall great film!

4 actors on top of their game, 4 performances which are truly fantastic. Raw, emotional drama.
The scene in the nightclub with Natalie Portman and Clive Owen is particularly good!
Superb soundtrack from Damien Rice.
You have to see this.
A TOTAL MUST SEE

this film has 4 of the most honest actors around at the moment. i held back from watching it, as i thought it wud be a typical love story that would be sickly sweet, but now after watching it you couldnt get a more accurate view of what relationships are generally like. No one turns out to be the good guy, as everyone is deceitful. by far one of my favourite controversial films
My favourite film - not just another rom com

see it! see it!! SEE IT!!!! It is just SO honest, more honest than Bridget Jones. Noone comes out as the goodie - that's what I love about it - there's no dreamy hero - they're all deceitful and pathetic. These characters are utterly believable. The film is incredibly moving, and, just like life, utterly unpredicatble. SEE IT!!!
A stunning quartet of first rate actors...

Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owen, four names that alone should make for quality viewing but when working with a sensational script by Patrick Marber (of Alan Partridge fame) results in a rich, potent blend of laughs, shocks and heartbreak. Adapted from his own stage play 'Closer' is a richly rewarding experience featuring a quartet of first rate actors performing at the top of their game. Natalie Portman, especially, banishes all memories of her sweetly innocent role as Mathilda in 'Leon' with her sexy, saucy turn as Alice - just one of the four characters caught up in this distincly, adult tale of infidelity, intimacy and, inevitably, sacrifice. The dialogue seers with wit and intelligence, not to mention being extremely filthy (you won't believe the things that come out of Julia Roberts mouth) The humour is extremely well balanced as well and amongst the scenes of pain, emotion and heartbreak lie scenes of deliciously wonderful hilarity. Witness the scene early on in the movie with Clive Owen and Jude Law swapping extremely graphic 'pleasentaries' with each other over the Internet (don't ask why, just watch the movie) Yes, the conventions of the script and it's genesis on stage means this is a film primarily focused on the dialogue and interaction of the main protagonists but director Mike Nichols has delivered a stunning adaptation of the stage play and a film that is well worth spending quality time with...
