As my title says, this film is Top Gun with cars.
It's got Tom Cruse, Directed by Tony ( Top Gun) Scott
and produced by the same team, and the story is identical.
Lets face it, Top Gun was a classic Guilty pleasure of the 80's, with is Cool characters, brilliant airial direction. Brilliant dog fights, high speed action. Superb 80's music, and shot like a music video. But the story was never it's strong point, as it was paper thin. But that was the 80's and this was released in the summer of 1990. Without the chemestry of the characters and fantastic air show whats left?.... Cars. Some how the cars never manage to capture the audiance the way the aircraft did. Also the characters are never as good, No Goose, IceMan, Slider.
Cruse still has a cool name ( Cole Trickle) and he plays the same character as Maverick in Top Gun. Also the music of the early 1990's was anything but good. Days of Thunder is again shot like a music video, but with a very dodgy soft Rock music… more »

Although there are still some excellent car carnage. This is still a pretty good companion to Top Gun, but don't expect it to Take your breath away.
