Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, United 93) re-team for their latest electrifying thriller in Green Zone, a film set in the chaotic early days of the Iraqi War when no one could be trusted and every decision could detonate unforeseen consequences.

During the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad in 2003, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Damon) and his team of Army inspectors were dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. Rocketing from one booby-trapped and treacherous site to the next, the men search for deadly chemical agents but stumble instead upon an elaborate cover-up that inverts the purpose of their mission.

Spun by operatives with intersecting agendas, Miller must hunt through covert and faulty intelligence hidden on foreign soil for answers that will either clear a rogue regime or escalate a war in an unstable region. And at this blistering time and in this combustible place, he will find the most elusive weapon of all is the truth.

After seeing "The Hurt Locker" pretty much sweep the oscars after conning people into thinking it was a gritty realistic war film i was counting on the Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass partnership to set things straight and boy did it. It may not display the emotion of war but it showed the political corruption that we have always known to be evident in fighting the war in Iraq. Matt Damon is brilliant as Miller who is after the WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction) but his focus is shifted because of all the false intel he recieves and wants to find out the real answer which could help win the war. The action is epic which is reminiscent of both the Modern Warfare video games and the Jason Bourne movies. Highly recommended entertaining military/political action/thriller. Enjoy

Don't be fooled that this excellent thriller is going to be similar to the Jason Bourne movies, as although Directed by the Paul Greengrass, and starring Matt Damon, this is a very different movie.
This movies center's around the hunt for Saddam's Weapons Of Mass Destruction...or lack of them as it turned out!
With a tight script, brilliant and realistic action this is the best movie of the year so far! If you liked the excellent Hurt Locker, The Kingdom, Body of Lies, Black Hawk Down and the outstanding HBO mini series Generation Kill you'll love every minute. This movie is Popcorn politics at it's best, as although Green Zone deals with the subject matter very even handed, it never lets the politics and the moral grey areas get in the way of the entertaiment..
Green Zone is a very intelligent gritty action thriller that should not be missed!
See if you liked.

Really enjoyed this movie as I am a big fan of Matt Damon, the director Paul Greengrass and Political Thrillers.
It is Engrossing, Fast and Franticly paced. The tension in some scenes is pure Nail Biting.
The movie is Political to an extent but above all is an Entertainer but with a bit of a Brain.
Even though most of it is Fictional, it does still act relevant Questions and presents Realistic Scenarios that did take place during the initial phase of the Invasion of Iraq.
The performances were spot on. Matt Damon was once again in Exceptional form, Brendan Gleeson was Very Good.
Greg Kinnear was effective in his role and Jason Issacs was Good but a little under used.
Overall more of an Action Thriller than a War movie.

P.S. I loved the line that the Iraqi Freddy says to Damon "It Is Not For You To Decide What Happens Here".
And also the final shot of the American Humvees driving along with the Iraqi Oil Fields in the Background

This really is one of the better action/war films i have seen in a while.

Its fast paced, full of action, and gripping scenes that have you on the edge of the seat. Its portrays some of the hush hush feelings about Iraq and i like that they managed to pull this off. WIth difficulty no doubt.

Its a great film, with matt damon pulling off some fantastic acting. You want to be entertained. Then i recommend this. 4/5!!

Being a huge fan of the Bourne franchise, I could not wait to see the film. Unfortunately I left the cinema having completely forgotten that I had seen it. I had to remind myself of what I had seen be re-watching the trailer, and while I remember it a very good action movie, that's all it was. I think the problem was that it was essentially Bourne in Iraq, which meant the idea was no longer as fresh as it once was. However, if you can look past all that, there is no reason not to like this movie, just don't expect it to have a long lasting impression on you.
