A young boy confined to bed with the flu is less than thrilled when his grandfather (Peter Falk) arrives to read him the story of "The Princess Bride". It tells the adventures of Buttercup, the most beautiful woman in the world, and Westley, the man she loves in the fairy-tale kingdom of Florin.

When Buttercup is kidnapped, Westley has to overcome some pretty tough obstacles if he is to rescue her from the clutches of three kidnappers - scaling the cliffs of insanity, battling rodents of unusual size, facing torture in the Pit of Despair... True Love has never been a snap.

This film hits the spot, its really witty with a brilliantly original spoof quality. the cliffs of insanity, the pit of despair, the six fingered man and, of course, the dread pirate roberts himself - I urge you to watch this film, its a classic.

 A great fairytale

Don't let the title decieve you. It's not all about Princesses, it has fight scenes and other stuff! This is a good family film which could be easily watched on a rainy day.

My favourite childhood movie to my favourite adult one

I remember watching this way back when and thinking it was one of the best films ever (even on par with Goonies). I recently say this was on offer and brought it, and now its my adult favourite too.
Without giving too much away, it starts with a young Fred Savage (from Wonder Years) being visited when hes sick by his grandfather (yes Mr Columbo himself Peter Falk). he reads his a book and we are transported into another world/imagination. The main story is about a farm boy who is in love with a girl called Buttercup(Robin Wright Penn - from Unbreakable). the farmboy Westley (Cary Elwes - from Robin Hood Men in Tights) leaves to make enough money to marry her, but apprently he is captured by a pirate (Falk narates during this time with his granson butting in sometimes, eg "urgh kissing...can we skip that"). But Wesley comes back to save his Buttercup from the nasty Prince.
Some great sword fights ("Ah but im not left handed" - you'll see and laugh next time you read this), comedy and romance. Cameo and special appearances from Andre the Giant (from WWE fame), Mandy Patinkin (from the Criminal Minds series), Mel Smith (yep from Smith and Jones) and even Billy Crystal (from many films such as City Slickers). Ive never read the book, but when a film is this good, maybe you dont need to.
This is a brillaint fantasy adventure story that will make you laugh and will soon become your favourite too.

Hallo, my name is Inigo Montoya...

The most awesome quote of all time!!! My favourite quote of all time - anyone who has seen this will know what I am talking about.

This is one of the best films of all time - don't let the title deceive you. It's chock a block full of sword fighting, giants, monsters and a sick child being told a story by his grandfather. A story that I wish i had read to me as a child - it's amazing!!!!!

If you haven't seen this movie, I only have three words for you... shame on you. I won't spoil the quote started in the title - you'll have to watch the film to find out what it is!!
