Dead Set

My cousin and I sat down every night at 10pm last week staring at the TV screen! What a wicked, addictive show! Brilliant ending...so refreshing aswell compared to the normal rubbish where it's a bunch of zombies who walk slower than the common slug and only pose a threat to you if you were chained down or something! All the actors were great and it was really scary - I must have leapt on my poor cousin a thousand times through certain scenes! A must-watch.

Dead Set is a zombie horror set in Britain (eventually revealed to be global), centred around the only part of Britain which has no clue about the outside world - the big brother house.

Featurring previous housemates in various roles, Davina herself both being savaged and as a zombie, Kevin Eldon (of multiple Channel 4 projects), Andy Nyman (Severance) and many others, the show is a great standalone horror, aside from any big brother links, and features masses of cultural winks, quotes and satire.

Not for those of a weak disposition, this should be more than enough for any gore-hounds and cultural cynics, I highly recommend this.

Its best suited for wide screen viewing, surround sound and should be watched in a darkened room" .... And so I began watching. We follow characters centred in and around the Big Brother show, watching staff and participants as they build up to eviction night. Yet the outside world is falling into chaos. Dead Set is horrific, shocking, good, funny and depressing - that is how I felt after watching it. Its run time is almost 2 ½ hours. It draws you in and manages to cover many human traits such as betrayal, love, hope, desperation and how people deal with disaster when the chips are down. This show is a real must for zombie fans, but it is more than just a zombie horror, it pulls no punches and feels real. There is a depth to this program that many miss.

I was not expecting much from this tv/ big brother spin on the zombie movies, but this is actually bloody very good, and also a very clever biting satire. How could anybody resist the thought of davina mccall having her throat biten out, in full bloody glory, then being resurrected from the dead as a rabid zombie. If only the same fate could happen to jade goody! Big brother has had it's day and is as stale as a rotting corps. But this version is fresh and very original. The zombies are great, similar in the make up as shawn of the dead, but are as fast as the rage infected of 28 days/ weeks later and the excellent 2004 remake of dawn of the dead. Of cause this tv production is limited with it's strings tied to a tv budget, but every second counts, in this hand held camera shocker. Very bloody, very funny, very original and very good.
If you are a zombie fan, this is well worth adding to your horror collection.

Missed this when it was on tv, so bought it. marvellous gore fest! specially whe Davina gets..... nope spoiler alert..... buy it now and find out what happens! much better use of time than watching the current version of big brother.
