Charlie Brooker, a known comedic writer turns his hand to horror with this brilliant TV show. Imagine a zombie apocolypse mixed with the Big Brother House. Brooker takes the insanity out of the house and puts it into the real world. This fast paced TV series will have your heart pounding, you'll be sweating, feeling uncomfortable and screaming. Shot in the style of 28 Days Later the show has a gritty and all too real feeling, each episode is a non stop thriller with no dull moments. Brilliant acting from the entire cast, the characters all have their depths and feel like real people. Brooker's writing is at it's finest, the dialogue feels genuine and has all the things you'd see in a top Hollywood zombie movie.... oh and it also includes some of Brooker's jokes which'll make sure to have you laughing. Overall, this show is FANTASTIC! Brilliant from start to finish, nothing I would change about it. Heart pounding and exciting from the get go, MUST SEE

Such an original concept, a zombie television series. I don't think it's ever been done before, or if it has, never to this high standard. The idea of setting it in the very real world of big brother was brilliant. The use of the building, real life counterparts, even the cameras they use are authentic when viewing the big brother scenes as a tv programme and switch to more horror-esque cameras for the narrative. To see the trailer you wouldn't guess how gruesome this gets, and I do warn you, this is very gory. The cast are all very well chosen and obvious mention to the BB "producer" who has some hilarious lines. I never got bored waiting for something to happen, Charlie Brooker has kept the action at a high throughout so you don't settle down for too long to realise how bizarre it all is. Even for a film this would be great as I think it's one of the best zombie productions there is, especially when you find out the director doesn't like zombie films and has never directed anything even remotely like this before. I prefer this over all Romero's fims, and 28 days later and they were all higher budget. The only thing that I thought it didn't need is the high volume of shaky camera work. I know it gives it more tension and makes it feel more like you're there but sometimes you are trying to focus on what's happening and it can become a tad irritating and I'm like "keep the camera still!". The dvd is superbly presented, menu screens brilliantly designed and it's packed with some great features like special effects, a tour round the BB house and a funny interview with Charlie Brooker, swearing guaranteed. Very gruesome, very grim and a lot of political satire. The cameo's from previous BB contestants were nice to see, although I was unsure how much acting was required! This is a zombie series worthy of a lot of praise; for it's originality in a stale franchise, ideas, humour and harsh gritty reality in a whole nation of zombies.

I have watched the first 4 episodes so far and this dvd has some edge of the seat nail biting moments in it. The way its filmed and the gritty realistic style reminds you of danny boyles 28 days later.
The contestants fear rises as they realise everywhere but the big brother house is overun with zombies. And they have been left deserted as the rest abandoned them in the evacuation. not one for the faint of heart .

Dead Set is a zombie horror set in Britain (eventually revealed to be global), centred around the only part of Britain which has no clue about the outside world - the big brother house.

Featurring previous housemates in various roles, Davina herself both being savaged and as a zombie, Kevin Eldon (of multiple Channel 4 projects), Andy Nyman (Severance) and many others, the show is a great standalone horror, aside from any big brother links, and features masses of cultural winks, quotes and satire.

Not for those of a weak disposition, this should be more than enough for any gore-hounds and cultural cynics, I highly recommend this.

A fantastic show that effectively satirizes the state of modern society and values. A accurate portrayal of Big Brother's target audience as brain dead. Lots of cross-cultural winks and nods to the Zombie genre as a whole to keep film and horror buffs delighted. Numerous quotes and scenes taken straight out of Romero's Zombie films. Superb send up of a society driven purely by consumerism and celebrity culture. Must see....

A five episode mini series based around goings on at the Big Brother House. An above average zombie horror tending to be more believable than many others (how believable zombies are is debatable). As every horror fan knows, there can't be zombies without some comedy, and this is light but good. The gore and effects are very good, the story keeps you gripped, and the DVD features deleted scenes and interviews. Recommended.
