  Germany's Point of View

| | See all stuartfear's reviews (768)

WWII from the enemy's point of view, you'll be an eye witness to the fall of their leader and the collapse of the German army at the hands of the Allied forces.
It has a general feel about it, you can feel the tension and atmosphere in the room as they discuss the battle plans. The end is getting closer for the German army and you can feel it, you can feel the fear in their hearts and despite already knowing the climax you keep wondering if there's a possibility the plans will succeed.
The acting is incredible, Hitler is shown in a fair light, he's not played up as being a heartless monster nor is he shown to be a lunatic. He has depth and thanks to a great performance comes alive on screen. The supporting cast also do an amazing job, not a single bad performance in the bunch.

Overall: One of the best WWII movies ever made, facts brought to life and many elements some didn't know of are finally revealed. Brilliant movie from start to finish.

  Classic film

This is not just Brilliant film or one of the best film's around. It's a true classic and up there with the top contenders for the best movie of all time. Now being a german film it is in subtitles which might put off some people, but trust me it's worth it and being german, in german and acted by german's it add's to the feel and the story of the film. The other thingd that help make this a great film apart from being a true story, is it's well written script, brilliant acting, it's vived, compelling and gripping. I don't think I have to explain what the film is about, so I just say it's a brilliant film and one of the best war films of all time.

Not enough films have been made showing the war from a german point of view and not enough films have been made by those who where once the axis powers.

This film should serve as a reminder that not all germans where nazi's and that germans during world war 2 where just as human and as normal a person as our own grandfathers who fought in the conflict where.

A great film, Dont let the fact its subtitled put you off. Its shows just how mad a man hitler really was.

I saw this film on the Channel 4 films and simply had to buy it. It is one of the most powerful films I've ever seen. In fact, I'd rate it as the best I've seen, the performance of Bruno Ganz is just awesome, and having lived in Berlin recently I really feel connected to it. I also recommend "the lives of others" to get a feel for Berlin during the communist period.

A very powerful and shocking look into the last few weeks of Adolf Hitler's life.
It's much better in German and I actually feel I am in the room watching the events unfold.
An excellent film and well worth the money.

Great film which I think comes across better in the German language. Like City of God it makes no difference that it is in subtitles. Bruno Ganz's performance is as good as anything you will see anywhere.
