Another reviewer asks the question why did lucas not make the prequels as good as this. I would'nt agree with that at all. The sequels were very good and i enjoyed them very much. The fall of the democratic republic is scarily close to what is happening right now in america as the people sit by whilst the administration grab ever more powers in the name of security. these animated films are marvelous though.

     pure awesomeness

Totally fantastic, loved the style of animation. The only slight flaw is the lack of original cast voices. Otherwise brilliant.

WHY DIDN'T GEORGE LUCAS MAKE THE PREQUELS AS GOOD AS THIS?

    Top 100 DVD Reviewer

This series and it's follow up blow the prequels out of the water.

The animation is gorgeous, simple and stylised. All of the major characters get a look in, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Padme, R2, 3PO, Yoda, Mace, Dooku, Palpatine, Sidious (!) and plenty of other faces, some familiar, some brand new.

Originally this series was broadcast as 3-4 minute episodes so if it seems to jump fromone character to another you'll know why. One of the benefits of this DVD are that as a continuous narrative it works so much better.

Standouts are the last episode featuring the debut of General Grievous acting the way he was originally envisioned, as someone to be feared and not jeered. Plus Mace Windu taking out an entire army of droids all by himself, Anakin in the rain fighting a Sith apprentice, Kitt Fisto fighting underwater and Obi-Wan kicking a lot of rear ends.

It looks great on a really big screen, so treat yourself, also get Volume 2 which is even better and look forward to the upcoming series 3 which'll be in 30 minute segements in full CGI.
