A comedy for anyone with a past they'd rather forget.
Joel (Carrey) and Clementine (Winslet) have always had a tumultuous relationship but Joel is shocked to find that Clementine has had all memories of their relationship erased. In order to forget the woman that he still loves, he decides to undergo the same highly experimental procedure. But as the painful memories are erased he begins to remember the passion and love they had for each other and so he tries to hide these memories in other parts of his brain...

Very good, very clever, and very strange.
It's a bit confusing in places and you really have to pay attention.
Outstanding perfomences from everyone really.
Bu for me who stuck out the most was Elijah Wood, I don't know what it was, he was just brilliant.
If you don't pay attention, it won't make any sense and then you will not like it.
So, keep watching.
A true modern classic.

When compiling a recent 'top 20' for a friend, this was the first film on my list. Like a romantic 'Memento', this may take a while to 'get' but it is so worth it. The film's final message so life affirming and hopeful, the performances so perfect. Buy Bourne 3, then buy this.
