When I first saw this film - I admit, I was confused But I still kinda understood the concept. This film is worth more than one watch, I still watch it today and I am no longer confused but what I find facinating is that everytime I watch it, I notice something new and different.
It's the kind of film where once you understand what's happening and you watch it again, it makes total sense.
It has to be seen to be believed and even if you still end up confused, it's worth watching for the amazing performances of all the cast. Carey puts his comedy mask aside and gives an honest and truthful performance, as do all the cast. Kate Winslet is amazing as Clementine and the rest of the cast pull you into this strange possibility.
Even the soundtrack helps this very touching story pluck the heart strings.
I truly love this film - it's experimental and is a change from all the boring 'samey' films which are cluttering up the world of Movies.
If The Matrix confused you, then this may not be for you, but it is definetly one of those films that will play on your mind - in a good way!!

Very good, very clever, and very strange.
It's a bit confusing in places and you really have to pay attention.
Outstanding perfomences from everyone really.
Bu for me who stuck out the most was Elijah Wood, I don't know what it was, he was just brilliant.
If you don't pay attention, it won't make any sense and then you will not like it.
So, keep watching.
A true modern classic.

When compiling a recent 'top 20' for a friend, this was the first film on my list. Like a romantic 'Memento', this may take a while to 'get' but it is so worth it. The film's final message so life affirming and hopeful, the performances so perfect. Buy Bourne 3, then buy this.

This film has got to be the best film i have ever seen, doing it in english for part of coursework was a blessing, however it maybe difficult to understand for some viewers.
it is about a guy called Joel (carrey) and his girlfriend Clementine (winslet) and the story of their relationship falling apart.
it could be confusing as the timeline is not exactly linear, and you need to pay 100% atention to the film to understand what the f*** is happening, so don't buy it if your just going to put it on in the background.
i hope this review has ben helpful to anyone thinking of buying this DVD.
An experience you won't want to forget...

Charlie Kaufman has always been a screenwriter to watch, both Being John Malkovich and Adapatation are astounding films, and with 'Eternal Sunshine...' he's just scored his hat-trick. The pairing of Carrey and Winslet is a match made in heaven and both have never been better. Michel Gondry brings a unique visual style to the film that really helps you to get inside Joel's mind. A second viewing will be required to help tie up all the questions you may have, but you won't regret them. A true cinematic gem, 'Eternal Sunshine..' is sweet, affecting, thought-provoking and guarenteed to stay with you forever...
