In the top 5 best ever horror / slasher films ever made!

The TCM has stood the test of time. Theres not much left to be said about this film that hasnt already been said. As an avid horror fan of over 25 years now, ive seen 1000's of horror films. This steelbook edition is one of the best versions of this film out there! Many would consider this to be THE best ever horror/slasher film (and yes, it is a slasher film in general). I would certainly put it in my top 5 best ever horror/slasher films. Dont expect a blood bath. In fact, theres pretty much no blood used within Texas. Its all about the tension. Its all about your imagination. Induces the correct atmosphere to grab you until the end. This film will probably shock non horror fans, or more, get their pulses racing. Especially the ending. As for horror fans who may not have seen it yet (where have you been?), or upcoming horror fans looking for a decent, low budget film with true cult status, you cant go wrong. The plot is very loosely based on Ed Gein. The wearing of human skin, ornaments made from human remains and grave robbing lends its ear to Texas (ala Gein). As for any real true life massacre in Texas,...this never happened. Its all the imagination of Tobe Hooper. This steel tin is a must have for your collection and when you've seen the film, check out the many various special features. You will appreciate the film even more.

Astonishing and to this day unbeatable

One of the best horror films ever made. Absolute classic: harrowing, brutal and pure evil. So many horror films wouldn't exist without this existing first.

The violence is explicit and not gratuitous in the slightest, just plain disturbing; the characters are sick and remorseless; the film is astonishing to this day. Unfortunately, by todays standards, the makeup effects and picture quality have not dated too well but the film still shocks and is still unbeatable after many sequels, remakes and sequels to remakes this is without a doubt still the best of them all.

Gunnar Hansen is a true monster as the killer that won't stop of the family that won't let you get away in the nightmare that just won't end. Heaving with insightful documentaries and commenaties featuring original cast and crew membersssential for classic horror buffs.

 Harrowing, disturbing horror masterpiece

What can you say about one of the most famous horror movies? It saved the horror genre from being a laughing stock. All the horror genre had was a dying Hammer studio and a couple of amazing zombie movies (Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead). The horror genre needed that extra kick and TCM did that exact thing.

Disturbing through and through, the characters in the Hewitt family are just downright wierd and creepy. You have to place yourself in those kids shoes to really experience the fear and shock that is delievered in this film.

This is a masterclass low budget horror film, a must in a horror collection and presented in a steelbook with the mighty Leatherface (played by Gunner Hansen) towering the cover and 2 discs packed full of extras, you just cant go wrong.

 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one the most terrifying and influencal horror films ever made. The film is a conerstone in American horror filmmaking mainly because it doesn't focus on the violence and gore, but rather the suspense. This film influenced other classic horror films such as Alien and Halloween. Highly recommended.

The buzz is back in this brilliant set

Tobe Hoopers orginal classic is back in this brilliant 3 disc set. On its 1974 release it shocked audiences, banned worldwide and and was named a video nasty here in the UK. I think this is with out a doubt the greatest horror film of all time. The film builds up the tension through its snuff movie feel and its scenes of almost bloodless yet brutal violence are still shocking. This is not a film you experiance, you survive it. Feel the fear.

A few scenes make the whole movie worthwhile

To be honest theres not a great deal of violence in what is essentially a 'violent' movie. But for the brief moments there is action, it is as shocking and gut-wrenching as anything that has ever appeared on screen.
Many movies we see supply us will plenty of violence but in a sense, you just sit there watching it. With texas chainsaw massacre it is so fast and brutal that you are actually a bit shocked, almost as if you had genuinely witnessed it. That is the power of this movie and why it is still so famous today.
Overall its a slow movie but just for those few brief moments, it is worth seeing. Theres not a great deal to say about the before and after but to feel the true shock value, you should sit through the whole movie.
Definitely choose this original over the poor remake which is just like any other modern movie of the same genre.
