A young boy confined to bed with the flu is less than thrilled when his grandfather (Peter Falk) arrives to read him the story of The Princess Bride. It tells the adventures of Buttercup, the most beautiful woman in the world, and Westley, the man she loves in the fairy-tale kingdom of Florin. When Buttercup is kidnapped, Westley has to overcome some pretty tough obstacles if he is to rescue her from the clutches of three kidnappers - scaling the cliffs of insanity, battling rodents of unusual size, facing tortue in the Pit of Despair...True love has never been a snap.

 Why another Special Edition

| | See all Chazwaldo's reviews (1)

Don't get me wrong i love this film, but i have so far purchased two copies of this dvd, one being the original released a long time ago and the other being a 'special edition' released under three years ago.

Now why have they brought out yet another special edition!! I find it a bit of a joke and money making scheme and i'm quite annoyed.

If you haven't seen this film already then do, as it's brilliant, but if you've already got this on dvd i'd urge you not to waste your money further, as the only extra edition i can see is carrie ewles on-set video.

Film - excellent
Dvd - how many special editions do you want to release!!! I'm not buying you again!!

I'm almost tempted to buy it a second time...

The princess bride is my favourite film as any half decent friend of mine could tell you.
It is a funny, light-hearted, quirky film with the all-important fight for true love.
Since it's only a fiver for the special edition i'm barely keeping myself from buying it despite the fact i already have the original...

Top 10  Reviewer Top 10 DVD Reviewer

I watched this film over and over when i was little back in the 80's and it was one of my favs.
So when i saw this 2 disc edition for a fiver i had to get it.I paid my money and watched it with my wife and kids upon its arrival and was well slightly upset it didnt hold that same magic as it did when i was a kid.My girls loved it and are now hooked like i was when i was that age maybe this movie is for the young.
Dont get me wrong it deserves the 4 stars i gave it and the 5 so many others have as it is truly an amazing film but holds more magic when your young and innocent.

 Magical rollercoaster of a story
