Fast paced and edgy, this mini-series (first shown on BBC3) alternates between the gripping love triangle involving the young Casanova, Henriette and her husband Grimani, and the swan song of the world's most notorious lothario!Written by Russell T. Russell T Davies made a wise choice in portraying David Tennant as the young Casanova; he brings to it a boyish, youthful exuberance which is totally and realistically credible. Peter O'Toole's performance was magnificent. Over the years he has matured like a good whiskey and long may we savour his talents.
