Review

A rooftop sniper (Andy Robinson) calling himself Scorpio has killed twice and holds the city ransom with the threat of killing again. Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) is a tough, streetwise San Francisco cop whom they call 'Dirty Harry', will nail him one way or the other, no matter what the "system" prescribes.

Filming on location, director Don Siegel made the City by the Bay a vital part of 'Dirty Harry', a practice continued in its four sequels. The original remains one of the most gripping police thrillers ever made.

This '71 brilliant cop movie spawned four sequels, and further reasured audiences of how Eastwood can shock, appaul and please movie fans of all ages. Andy Robinson is great as the sniper villain who gets put on Eastwoods dirty and un-PC list of foes, a place that is proven to be somewhere nobody should be. Marvellous.

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

This 1971 classic from director Don Siegel and Clint Eastwood is a masterpiece of fast, economical and tight storytelling. Despite having a strong early '70s atmosphere, the film is still fresh and exciting after all these years. Clint is at his steely best as the relentless, determined Detective Inspector Harry Callahan and Andy Robinson remains one of the most memorable of screen villains as his quarry.

The film looks great in a clean, widescreen transfer.
