Review

Christopher Eccleston's Doctor is wise and funny, cheeky and brave. An alien and a loner (it's difficult keeping up with friends when your day job involves flitting through time and space), his detached logic gives him a vital edge when the world's in danger. But when it comes to human relationships, he can be found wanting. That's why he needs new assistant Rose.

Rose (Billie Piper) is a shop-girl from the present day. From the moment they meet, the Doctor and Rose are soulmates. They understand and complement each other. As they travel together through time, encountering new adversaries, the Doctor shows her things beyond imagination. She starts out as an innocent, unfettered by worldly concerns. But she ends up an adventurer who, by the end of the series, can never go home again...

How could I give this anything other than a 5-star. Doctor Who is the BEST show on TV, FULL STOP. Christopher Eccleston is fantastic in his role, and Billie as Rose is fantastic. Some of the best episodes of the new series are in this boxset, such as the chilling Empty Child and Aliens of London! The Daleks return and new enemies pop up. The only reason I watch BBC. This boxset is great for hardcore Doctor Who fans (like me) and newbies alike. Now, where'd I put my psychic paper?

Rose- I still remember how excited I was when I first heard Doctor Who was coming back in 2005. I've seen a few episodes of Doctor Who when I was growing up but ive never been a big fan of it. Anyway back to the point in this episode Rose meets The Doctor and she finds herself helping him save the world.

The End of the world- This is a great episode where you get to see a lot of different aliens and The Last Human Cassandra. You also get to hear abit about why The Doctor is the last TimeLord.

The Unquiet death- In this episode The Doctor and Rose travel back in time to 1869 Cardiff Where the dead are walking and The Doctor meets Charles Dickens. Will Rose and The Doctor save the day??

Aliens of London/ World War Three- These are two of my favourite episodes with the farting Aliens The Slitheen. Me and my Nephew were laughing the first time we show these Aliens. In this episode The Doctor takes Rose back home to see her Mum Jackie. When a spaceship crashes. But what do the Slitheen want?

Dalek- In this episode you get to see the last Dalek. The Doctor and Rose end up in Mr Henry Van Statten's private museum of Alien artefacts and where My Van Statten has a living artefact. Will The Dalek escape or will The Doctor and Rose save the day.

The Long Game- This is a good episode where The Doctor, Rose and Adam land on satellite 5 where they broadcast the news from all over. universe everyone wants to get to floor 500 (The walls are made of gold or are they) and when they get there they are never seen again.

Father's Day- In this episode The Doctor and Rose go back in time so Rose could be with her Father so I won't die alone but when she interferes with time by saving him The Reapers come to sterilize the womb in time by killing everyone. Only Rose Father can save the day.

The Empty Child/ The Doctor Dances- These are my favourite episodes ever the first time I watched it was in the dark and it scared me. The Doctor and Rose end up in 1941 in the height of the blitz where there a boy in a gas mask looking for his Mummy and all the other children are scared of him. If he touches you you'll end up like him. The Doctor and Rose end up meeting the dashing Captain Jack Harkness played by John Barrowman.

Boom Town- This is not as action packs as some of the other episodes but it has a good story to it and is another one my favourite episodes. The TARDIS needs recharge so they park the TARDIS on top of the Rife in Cardiff where they meet Mickey and go for a day out around Cardiff just as The Doctor, Rose, Jack and Mickey are enjoying there day trouble skrikes and they must save the day again from The Slitheen.

Bad Wolf/ Parting of Ways- The Doctor, Rose and Jack end up on satellite 5 which is now called The Game Station and its 100 years in the future from the last time they was there and something has gone wrong with time again . The episode Bad Wolf made me laugh the first time a saw it because The Doctor ends up in the Big Brother house and Rose on the Weakest Link and Jack on What Not to Wear but in the future if you loss at these games you get killed. The Doctor meet some of his old emenies The Daleks will the Doctor be able to save the day or not. It was sad when the Doctor regenerated because I liked Christopher Eccleston but David Tennant is a great Doctor to.

Over all a great Boxset with some great acting from Christopher Eccleston, Billie Piper, John Barrowman and everyone else that has appeared on Doctor Who. i would recommend this to anyone.

For over 15 years, Doctor Who was a mere classical TV show to me, the last stories of the 1980's were good but not perfect and with low budgets and falling audiences, it was banished from the air...2005 brought it back with a NUCLEAR EXPLOSION!!!!! Great scripts, fantastic aliens including the return of the Daleks and Billie Piper being an excellent companion for the Doctor whos experience in the time war has caused him to be less warm and caring but more used to being alone. Rose brings a compassionate and humanity loving side to the Timelord and makes him just that extra little bit special. From the autons in Rose to the Gelth in Cardiff along with Dickens and the re-birth of the Daleks in Bad Wolf and Parting of the Ways, the 13 episodes has as much excitement and drama as any show on TV....and it gets better and better as by what we see in Series 1, the Doctor is going to be around for years to come.
