I decided that I would see what all the fuss was about and borrowed this from my young nephews, kind of expecting not to like it. How wrong was I?!
This is a fab TV program. Excellent stories, effects and actors. I couldn't stop watching it, and have ordered myself the next season as I can't wait to see what happens. I'm just sad that Christopher Eccleston only done one season, as he was excellent as the Doctor. T_T

How could I give this anything other than a 5-star. Doctor Who is the BEST show on TV, FULL STOP. Christopher Eccleston is fantastic in his role, and Billie as Rose is fantastic. Some of the best episodes of the new series are in this boxset, such as the chilling Empty Child and Aliens of London! The Daleks return and new enemies pop up. The only reason I watch BBC. This boxset is great for hardcore Doctor Who fans (like me) and newbies alike. Now, where'd I put my psychic paper?
A Fantastic BoxSet

Rose- I still remember how excited I was when I first heard Doctor Who was coming back in 2005. I've seen a few episodes of Doctor Who when I was growing up but ive never been a big fan of it. Anyway back to the point in this episode Rose meets The Doctor and she finds herself helping him save the world.
The End of the world- This is a great episode where you get to see a lot of different aliens and The Last Human Cassandra. You also get to hear abit about why The Doctor is the last TimeLord.
The Unquiet death- In this episode The Doctor and Rose travel back in time to 1869 Cardiff Where the dead are walking and The Doctor meets Charles Dickens. Will Rose and The Doctor save the day??
Aliens of London/ World War Three- These are two of my favourite episodes with the farting Aliens The Slitheen. Me and my Nephew were laughing the first time we show these Aliens. In this episode The Doctor takes Rose back home to see her Mum Jackie. When a spaceship crashes. But what do the Slitheen want?
Dalek- In this episode you get to see the last Dalek. The Doctor and Rose end up in Mr Henry Van Statten's private museum of Alien artefacts and where My Van Statten has a living artefact. Will The Dalek escape or will The Doctor and Rose save the day.
The Long Game- This is a good episode where The Doctor, Rose and Adam land on satellite 5 where they broadcast the news from all over. universe everyone wants to get to floor 500 (The walls are made of gold or are they) and when they get there they are never seen again.
Father's Day- In this episode The Doctor and Rose go back in time so Rose could be with her Father so I won't die alone but when she interferes with time by saving him The Reapers come to sterilize the womb in time by killing everyone. Only Rose Father can save the day.
The Empty Child/ The Doctor Dances- These are my favourite episodes ever the first time I watched it was in the dark and it scared me. The Doctor and Rose end up in 1941 in the height of the blitz where there a boy in a gas mask looking for his Mummy and all the other children are scared of him. If he touches you you'll end up like him. The Doctor and Rose end up meeting the dashing Captain Jack Harkness played by John Barrowman.
Boom Town- This is not as action packs as some of the other episodes but it has a good story to it and is another one my favourite episodes. The TARDIS needs recharge so they park the TARDIS on top of the Rife in Cardiff where they meet Mickey and go for a day out around Cardiff just as The Doctor, Rose, Jack and Mickey are enjoying there day trouble skrikes and they must save the day again from The Slitheen.
Bad Wolf/ Parting of Ways- The Doctor, Rose and Jack end up on satellite 5 which is now called The Game Station and its 100 years in the future from the last time they was there and something has gone wrong with time again . The episode Bad Wolf made me laugh the first time a saw it because The Doctor ends up in the Big Brother house and Rose on the Weakest Link and Jack on What Not to Wear but in the future if you loss at these games you get killed. The Doctor meet some of his old emenies The Daleks will the Doctor be able to save the day or not. It was sad when the Doctor regenerated because I liked Christopher Eccleston but David Tennant is a great Doctor to.
Over all a great Boxset with some great acting from Christopher Eccleston, Billie Piper, John Barrowman and everyone else that has appeared on Doctor Who. i would recommend this to anyone.
THE DOCTOR WILL SEE YOU KNOW

For over 15 years, Doctor Who was a mere classical TV show to me, the last stories of the 1980's were good but not perfect and with low budgets and falling audiences, it was banished from the air...2005 brought it back with a NUCLEAR EXPLOSION!!!!! Great scripts, fantastic aliens including the return of the Daleks and Billie Piper being an excellent companion for the Doctor whos experience in the time war has caused him to be less warm and caring but more used to being alone. Rose brings a compassionate and humanity loving side to the Timelord and makes him just that extra little bit special. From the autons in Rose to the Gelth in Cardiff along with Dickens and the re-birth of the Daleks in Bad Wolf and Parting of the Ways, the 13 episodes has as much excitement and drama as any show on TV....and it gets better and better as by what we see in Series 1, the Doctor is going to be around for years to come.
a welcome return

For years Doctor Who was lost from the television screens. Consigned to magazines, literature and audio dramas. But then Russell T Davies agreed to come to the BBC so long as he could bring back Who...
With the weight of Davies behind the production Who finally garnered a budget more in keeping with what it was trying to do, Davies also attracted names to the production that may have been unwilling without. One of these names was Christopher Ecclestone - a veteran of quality television and of the cinema. And with Ecclestone in the title role, Davies writing many of the scripts and other successful writeers and fans of Classic Who writing the rest (Paul Cornell, Steven Moffat et al) the success of Who was assured.
Most of the episodes here stand up well to repeated viewings, and some grow in strength because of it - The Long Game in particular was considered a weak link on its first outing but has grown in many fans' esteem on repeated viewings.
There are two negative points which has prevented me from giving this release a full five stars. Firstly Billie Piper - I'm not a fan, never was. I am aware that my dislike of her is far from universal so I'll leave that there. My second issue is with the release itself. There are certain elements missing here that fans of the Classic Who releases enjoy with regularity - missing, deleted and extended scenes. Focussed documentaries (as opposed to the very light on insight Confidential Cut-Downs) too are missing here.
But they are minor quibbles. The commentary tracks are a joy to listen to for the most part - special praise should be given to The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances where Msrs Moffat and Barrowman, along with a digital effects guru wax lyrical about themselves, the production, mistakes and more in such a way that even my commentary-phobic partner enjoyed thoroughly.
This is well worth investing in - a slice of science fiction produced with joy and enthusiasm by almost all involved.
Fantastic Regeneration

This is season one of the fantastic Doctor Who regeneration. Fans od the classic series will love it I am sure a smuch as those who are coming to the programme for the first time. It is all here. Christopher Eccleston makes for an excellent Doctor slipping easily into the role to play the ninth incarnation of the famous Time Lord.
Billie Piper is surprisingly good in the role of the companion Rose and gives an excellent performance to equal that of Eccleston.
The season is 13 episodes long and covers the return of the Autons last seen in the 1970s, Charles Dickens, the End of the world, World War Two, aliens taking over Downing Street, and the return of the Daleks among other things.
A series that builds as it works its way through the episodes to the explosive final episode.
A must see. Laden with special features as well
I waited sixteen years for this...

I was eleven when they stopped showing Doctor Who. You can't begin to imagine how much that upset me. As your typical warped an disturbed young boy, all I really wanted to see was people being horribly mutilated in acts of unnecessary surgery because some mad scientist / alien was performing bizarre medical experiments. That and to see someone get guillotined. Oh, and a whirlpool.
I was a very disturbed little boy, and so were all my friends. We read Roald Dahl, and delighted in all the foulest things imaginable. So, when Doctor Who, along with all it's space aliens who wanted to cut out your liver to discover what pitch you screamed was finally taken off the air, I couldn't wait for it to return.
The days turned into weeks. The weeks into months. The months into years. I stopped being interested in sadistic space aliens and madmen, and became interested in girls (actually, that's a lie. I became interested in girls; I just didn't tell them I was completely insane as a boy. They don't kiss you if you tell them you were insane.)
The years became decades.
I grew a beard, then shaved it, had my heart broken, and cried to all my friends about how I would never be in love again. That lasted until I fell inlove again. Which lasted until I got dumped again.
After nearly fifteen years, I ended up staying around a mate's house, and discovering to my ABSOLUTE JOY AND DELIGHT they had nearly every episode of Doctor Who ever made.
And all the joyful memories of people screaming, and running from alien death machines came flooding back.
We watched Doctor Who for eighteen hours.
That was when I learned, you can never truly go back. People had always told me about the cardboard sets, and the bad acting, and the men in costumes that wobbled, and the fact you could see Davros' feet wibbling away under his space wheelchair. I had never believed them before. Never. But now, at twenty six years of age, I was faced with an Awful And Incontrovertible Truth:
As a child, not only was I insane, I was also stupid.
Stupid like big dogs that lick at door windows and slobber a lot.
It turned out that Doctor Who wasn't terrifying or appallingly horrifying, or remotely the stuff of nightmares when you were twenty six. It turned out that it really was as bad and as stupid as everyone claimed.
Colin Baker in particular was bad.
And so, with heavy heart, utterly inconsolable from the terrible blow that not only had my childhood been wasted, but that the defining series of my childhood was rubbish, I gave up on my hopes of the series ever returning.
Which brings us to season 1 of the reboot of Doctor Who.
Perhaps I should gush about the quality of the acting. maybe go into tirades about how high the standard of the series is.
I'm not going to.
The Slitheen are crap. They're everything bad about Doctor Who. Russell T. Davies is a terrible writer who can't do sci-fi for love nor money; every episode of this series he has written is dire. They're boring and stupid, and just... wrong.
This series isn't great. It's not a masterpiece, and you aren't always left with the feeling that you MUST watch the next episode.
So why the five stars?
Well, I would have hoped that was obvious.
IT'S GOT DALEKS IN IT!!!
Bottom line, this series is great, not because every episode is good, and not because the acting is great (which it is, incidentally), but because it's Doctor Who done as well as it was in my head.
It's not for adults; it's for kids. It's for five year olds to watch and be terrified of, all over again.
Only when they watch it, drunk and dumped, twenty years from now, they'll be surprised that it actually WAS good.
