That's waht really needs to be said about Home Improvement Season 4, it's been 2 years since seqason 3 was released TWO I say! - So for those who waited patiently here is the 4th season of what for a lot of the mid 90s was one of the top 5 rated shows on television!
Home Improvement focuses on Tim Taylor, a husband, father, handyman, TV host and a nightmare to anyone working on the same DIY projects as him since his obsession for more power usually ends with a trip to the hospital! Tim is married to Jill who loves Tim for being as impulsive and crazy as he is but often suffers due to those same facts. Together Tim & Jill have 3 boys - Brad, a football player (or socer player) average student typical teenager obesessed with girls and his own looks. There's Randy, intellegent, sensitive, equally as obsessed with girls as his older brother but with a totally different approach and then there's Mark, the youngest and often abused brother who has to keep an eye in the back of his head for his older brothers who love to mess with him. Tim hosts a local cable show called Tool Time where he spends his time destroying most the projects and insulting his assistant & best friend Al Borland. Whenever Tim gets into a muddle and has a fight with Jill or has a trouble with his boys he can always count on the sound advice of his neighbour the eccentric wise and travelled Wilson (that's his first name & last!). With a hearty and manly grunt and his trusty toolbelt Tim strives to better his house both as a father & husband and as a toolman.
This season is a great season, it marks the first appearance of Tims brother Marty and Tim accidentally sees Marty's wife Nancy naked in the shower when they stay at the Taylors and Tim mistakenly thinks Jill is in the shower. Mark has to get glasses and fears he'll be labelled a dork, Randy's attempt to woo a girl is thwarted when Tim accidentally over polishes the disco floor and she sprains her ankle. Tim upsets Brad when he sells the beloved hotrod, tragedy strikes Al when his favourite bingo caller dies, Wilson finally gets a girlfriend and this is the season when Jill starts her journey as a psychology student and accidentally puts her foot in it when she over eagerly offers advice to Randy's girlfriends father.
This season has great guest stars like Jay Leno, Dick O'Niell and Dave Chapelle and with 26 episodes we also witness the 100th episode (final score 204 eps!) when Wilson gets a girlfriend. Tim Allen stars as Tim Taylor in a (scuse me for this!) taylor-made roll for him. Patricia Richardson co-stars as Jill Taylor, Zachery Ty Brian is Brad, Tara Smith plays Mark & Johnathan Taylor Thomas is Randy. Co-starring are Richard Karn as lovable sadman Al Borland, the late great Earl Hindman as Wilson & the gorgeous Debbe Dunning as 'Tool Girl' Hiedi.
Unfortunately Home Improvement doesnt offer much in the way of DVD special features, a blooper reel of about 5 minutes being it. But with 26 episodes this is a pretty big boxset so sit back and enjoy!

I can really see why this show was so popular. It mainly is because it is so funny. Tim allen is brilliant as a very accident prone tool show host. The kid who plays randy is very funny too. Watch in this season as we are introduced to al's brother cal, tim's brother marty and wilson's first/last name is revealed. Every season this show keeps improving. Brilliant stuff

Very Short Notice, No Advertisement. But Anyway Finally After Waiting For 2 Very Long Years Season 4 Is Out. Every Episode Is Filled With Laughter And Gags, This Is Tim Allen At His Best. I Have Seasons 4-8 On Region 1 Now This, I Can't Believe It, Buena Vista Should Have Brought It Out Earlier!. Great Season, But Not As Good As Seasons 2, 3,5 Maybe 6, But Fantastic Season, Best Show On TV Ever!. Nobody Could Love It As Much As I Do.

Season 4 Review :

In the fourth season of Home Improvement, the Taylor family faces some important milestones. Tim (Tim Allen) turns 40, Jill (Patricia Richardson) is laid off from work and pursues her Master's Degree and youngest son Mark (Taran Noah Smith) slowly begins to outgrow precocious middle brother Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas). (Oldest sibling Brad, played by Zachery Ty Bryan, remains pretty much the same confident kid he always was.) As for their inner circle, Tim's Tool Time buddy Al (Richard Karn) gets an ego boost when he's named one of Detroit's hottest bachelors, and little seen but often heard neighbor Wilson (Earl Hindman) goes on his first date in two decades. Add Debbe Dunning, who replaces Pamela Anderson as the new Tool Time girl, and you've got the makings of another solid season. When the ABC sitcom aired during the 1994-1995 TV season, it did well enough to place in the Top 5 for the fourth consecutive year. And aside from some pop culture giveaways (Jill's clothes; Randy's use of a floppy disc to backup his computer), the warmth and humour exuded in this 25-episode, 3-disc set hold up remarkably well.

Home Improvement is driven by the classic combination of a sensible wife married to a silly man-child husband who thinks about himself first, even when he doesn't intend to. When Jill wants to go back to school so she can become a therapist, Tim isn't supportive. At first it appears he just doesn't want any changes. But he later confesses he's worried she'll lose interest in him if she returns to school. After she reassures him that this would never be the case, he says, "If your dream is to work with nuts, you should go back to the world of macadamia". Look for an appearance from a very young Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain, Dawson's Creek), guest starring as Brad's makeup-savvy girlfriend who advises him on how to cover up his pimple. As for Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels, Ally McBeal), her blink-and-you'll-miss-her spot as a woman interested in Al is little more than a glorified cameo. --Jae-Ha Kim
