A little guilt goes a long way...
Having not slept for a year, lathe operator Trevor Reznick (Christian Bale) is dying of insomnia. Why he can't sleep, he can't remember. His every waking minute has become an unrelenting nightmare of confusion, paranoia, guilt, anxiety and terror; each of which is part of an escalating series of clues that will lead him to the source of his mysterious affliction...
Method actor Christian Bale, who favours total immersion in the roles he plays, lost an astonishing 63 pounds from his already lean frame in order to convey the shockingly gaunt physique of the main character. Exhausting in his preparation, close to the point of permanent physical damage, Bale is the centrepoint of this extraordinary film.

what christian bale did to his body for this movie, almost criminal and worse than anorexia.
the story keeps you in doubt until the end and creates a very paranoïd atmosphere. thought provocative.
dont read the other reviews

if you read some of the other reviews it will spoil what is a good film as many of them compare it to another specific film and that will be all you can think of when your watching,it will also mean that you allready know what is happening before it's even started...thanks alot for that.
as i said this is a good film with great attention to detail and good unraveling of events at the end.
christian bale is amazing and quite disturbing with his skeletal like appearance.
it can be a slow film at times but Mr bale compensates for that with his performance.great cast all round actually with all characters being quite likeable.
can be a little predictable at times but thats only because its a little old now..don't let that put you off.
Poor relation to Fight Club

Was looking forward to this as the reviews had been good, but it just turns out to be a pretty average film, some stuff taken from Fight Club. Even though Christian Bale gives a superb performance of an insomniac, there are many holes in it. An insomniac like him for instance wouldn`t be able to work for a start, certainly wouldn`t be able to drive, and doubtful that he would be able to have sex! As he does all these things in this film it makes the insomnia part less credible.
